أولياء الأمور الكرام،
نتطلع بالأسبوع القادم للاحتفال بإنجاز تاريخي آخر لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، حيث إن مسبار الأمل في خضم رحلته للوصول لكوكب المريخ بيوم الثلاثاء الموافق 9 فبراير. وسنعمل مع طلبتنا كي يدركوا أهمية هذا المشروع من الناحية العلمية بكونه اكتشاف علمي هائل، إلى جانب كونه مهمة عابرة للكواكب تمثل طموح الأمة والتزامها بالمضي قدمًا نحو الخمسين عامًا القادمة.
كما نعزم ونحرص على ان يضطلع طلبتنا لدور قيادي في هذه الحركة، ونحن متحمسون بشأن مجموعة الأنشطة المختلفة المخطط لعملها بهذا الشهر، حيث إننا نستعد للاشتراك بشكل كامل في فعاليات الإمارات تبتكر 2021 والتي ستبدأ بيوم 21 فبراير. وسيتضمن جزء من هذه الاستعدادات احتفال طلبتنا بالنسخة 18 من اليوم العالمي للإنترنت الآمن بالأسبوع القادم، حيث سيشاركون هذا الاحتفال مع زملائهم الطلبة بجميع أنحاء العالم في مبادرة عنوانها "معًا لإنترنت أفضل". وسنطلعكم على مزيد من التفاصيل المتعلقة بكيفية تمكن أولياء الأمور والطلبة من المساهمة في زيادة الوعي حول القضايا المتعلقة بالسلامة على الإنترنت.
وأنا في غاية الامتنان لدعم أولياء أمورنا لنا في سعينا نحو حماية مجتمعنا المدرسي بهذا العام، كما أقدر استمرار عائلاتنا في التحلي بالمرونة والتعاون والتفهم. وأنا فخور جدًا بفريق عملنا الذين يتولون دورًا قياديًا في دعم حملة اللقاح التابعة للقيادة الوطنية. فنحن ندعم هذه الحملة الهامة قلبًا وقالبًا لأجل حماية صحة ورفاهية أمتنا، كما نحث كل أفراد مجتمعنا القادرين على أخذ اللقاح للقيام بذلك في أقرب وقت ممكن.
وإلى جانب إعطائنا الأولوية لحماية صحة وسلامة مجتمعنا، فنحن مستمرون في التركيز بجد على تقدم وإنجازات كل طلبتنا بجميع المراحل الدراسية في مدرستنا. كما يتطلع معلمونا وقادتنا إلى مناقشة تقدم كل طلبتنا من خلال اجتماعات أولياء الأمور مع المعلمين والتي ستُعقد بالأسبوع المقبل، وسيكون هناك تركيز خاص على دعم طلبتنا بالصف الحادي عشر والصف الثاني عشر الذين سيستعدون حاليًا لأداء نوع مختلف من اختبارات التقييم، وذلك في أعقاب الإعلان عن إلغاء اختبارات الشهادة العامة الدولية للتعليم الثانوي واختبارات المستوى أ بهذا الصيف. وستردنا المزيد من المستجدات من قبل لجان الاختبارات بالوقت المناسب، وسيبقي قادة المرحل الثانوية الطلبة وأولياء الأمور على اطلاع بكل جديد وفقًا لما يجد من تطورات. وحاليًا، رسالتنا واهتمامنا الحالي يتمثل في ضرورة حضور الطلبة للحصص الدراسية، والعمل بجد، وإظهار أفضل ما لديهم.
Dear Parents,
Next week we look forward to celebrating another historic achievement for the UAE as the Hope Probe attempts to reach Mars on Tuesday 9th February. We will be working with our students to understand the project’s significance both from the perspective of scientific discovery but also what this interplanetary mission represents in terms of the nation’s aspirations and commitment to driving forward in to the next 50 years.
We are determined that our students play a lead role in this drive and are excited about the range of activities planned this month as we prepare to engage fully with UAE Innovates 2021 starting on the 21st February. Part of these preparations will include our students celebrating the 18th Safer Internet Day next week as they join fellow students around the world coming "Together for a better internet." You will see more details regarding how our parents and students will be able to get involved in raising awareness of issues related to internet safety below.
I am extremely grateful for the support of our parent community as we strive to protect our community this year and appreciate the flexibility, understanding and cooperation that our families continue to demonstrate. I am very proud of our staff team who are leading the way in supporting our national leadership’s vaccination campaign. We are fully behind this critical mission to safeguard our nation’s health and future wellbeing and encourage everyone who is able to take the vaccination to do so as soon as they are able to.
Alongside our priority to protect the health and safety of our community we continue to focus intently on the progress and achievement of learners at every phase in the school. Teachers and leaders are looking forward to discussing the progress of all students at our Parent Teacher Consultations next week and there will be a special focus on supporting our Year 11 and 12 students who will now start to prepare for different types of assessments following news of international GCSES and A Levels being cancelled this summer. There will be further updates from examination boards in due time and secondary leaders will keep students and parents updated as plans develop. For now, our message and focus is clear that the students need to be attending school, working hard and showing their best ability.

طلب تغيير النماذج التعليمية لكل المراحل التعليمية بالمدرسة: يعمل القادة والمعلمون بجد كي يتكيف متعلمينا مع تقديم العملية التعليمية سواء بموقع المدرسة أو عن بعد. وقد قمنا بوضع هذا النموذج المختلط لضمان الاستمرارية في تقديم العملية التعليمية حال وجود حالات إصابة إيجابية بفيروس كورونا المستجد، ومراعاةً منا لرغبات أولياء الأمور خلال هذه الأوقات العصيبة. ويرجى منكم التكرم بالاطلاع على المزيد من التفاصيل الواردة أدناه والخاصة بأنظمة المدرسة المتعلقة بإدارة هذه العملية.
تقارير أولياء الأمور واجتماعاتهم مع المعلمين لكل المراحل التعليمية بالمدرسة: لقد استلم أولياء الأمور تقارير أولياء الأمور، ويعقب ذلك اجتماعات أولياء الأمور مع المعلمين والتي ستُعقد بيوم الإثنين الموافق 8 فبراير وبيوم الأربعاء الموافق 10 فبراير.
الصور المدرسية لكل المراحل التعليمية بالمدرسة: يمكن لأولياء الأمور الاطلاع وشراء الصور الفردية لطلبتنا من خلال Stu Williamson. ونحن نخطط لعمل جلسة تصويرية أخرى لالتقاط صور للطلبة الذين تغيبوا عن جلسات التصوير المبدئية، وعليه سيتم تعليق إصدار صور الصفوف الدراسية حتى إكمالها، حتى يتسنى لنا تصوير أكبر عدد ممكن من طلبتنا بصورنا المدرسية.
مرحلة الروضة (استبيان أولياء الأمور): نشكر جميع أولياء الأمور الذين أكملوا استبيان أولياء أمور طلبة الروضة2. فقد أدلى 88% من المشاركين بالاستبيان بدعمهم للمقترح الخاص بتأخير موعد انتهاء اليوم الدراسي ليصبح في تمام الساعة 1:50م. ويرجى الاطلاع على الوارد أدناه للحصول على المزيد من التفاصيل.
مرحلة الروضة/ المرحلة الابتدائية (الطقس البارد): على أولياء الأمور إرسال جاكيت/ سترة شتوية مع أطفالهم إلى المدرسة، حيث أن الطقس حاليًا أكثر برودة بأوقات الاستراحة.
طالبات المرحلة الابتدائية (اصطحاب الطالبات بفترة ما بعد الظهيرة): سيتم اصطحاب كافة طالبات المرحلة الابتدائية (الصف الأول-السادس) من منطقة الألعاب متعددة الاستخدامات. حيث سنضمن إنفاذ التدابير المعززة الخاصة بالتصدي لانتشار عدوى فيروس كورونا المستجد، وذلك في ظل استمرارنا في القيام بكل ما في وسعنا لأجل حماية مجتمعنا. ويتعين على البالغين الوقوف على الأجزاء الخضراء المجاورة لأماكن اصطحاب طلبة المرحلة الدراسية ذات الصلة. ولكم منا جزيل الشكر على دعمكم الدائم لنا.
المرحلة الابتدائية (حضور الحصة السادسة الإضافية بموقع المدرسة): يرجى تذكر إرسال رسالة بريد إلكتروني إلى معلمي الصفوف في حال رغبتكم بحضور أطفالكم للحصة السادسة الإضافية بالمدرسة. وستكون مواعيد اصطحاب الطلبة الحاضرين لهذه الحصة الإضافية من الساعة 2.40م وحتى الساعة 3.00م. ويرجى منكم التكرم بالحضور في الموعد المحدد لاصطحاب أطفالكم. وبالنسبة لمن لن يحضروا هذه الحصة الإضافية بالمدرسة، ستكون مواعيد اصطحابهم من الساعة 2م وحتى الساعة 2.20م. وسيتم إعادة الطلبة إلى الفصول مرة أخرى بالساعة 2.20 حال لم يتم اصطحابهم في ذلك الموعد، وسيتم إعادتهم مرة أخرى ليتم اصطحابهم بتمام الساعة 2.40م.
المرحلة الثانوية (اختبارات الشهادة العامة للتعليم الثانوي والمستوى أ بالمملكة المتحدة): سيكون طلبة الصف الحادي عشر – الثاني عشر وأولياء أمورهم على علم بالقرار الذي اتخذته حكومة المملكة المتحدة بخصوص إلغاء اختبارات الشهادة العامة للتعليم الثانوي والمستوى أ لهذا العام، والاستعاضة عنهم باختبارات تقييمية بديلة تُجري من قبل المعلمين. ويرجى الاطلاع على الوارد أدناه للحصول على المزيد من التفاصيل.
لطلبة برنامج التعلم عن بعد: لمن لم يستلم الكتب الوزارية للفصل الدراسي الثاني بعد، الرجاء الحضور للمدرسة قبل نهاية الأسبوع المقبل 11\2\2021 للحصول على كتب أبنائكم من منطقة الاستقبال ، في حال وجود أي استفسار يرجى التواصل مع المعلمة شاهندا أحمد عبر البريد الالكتروني: s.ahmad_gns@gemsedu.com
Whole-School (Requesting to Change Educational Models): Leaders and teachers work hard to accommodate our learners in either our on-site or remote learning models. This blended model is in place to both ensure the continuity of learning in the event of positive cases and cater for parent preferences during this uncertain time. Please see below for more details about our school systems for managing this process.
Whole School (Parent Reports and PTCs): Parents should now have received Parent Reports. Parent Teacher Consultations will take place on Monday 8th February and Wednesday 8th February.
Whole School (School Photographs): Individual student images are now available for parents to view and purchase via Stu Williamson Photography. We are planning to have a further session to capture those who were absent during the initial photography sessions and so class photos will hold until these are completed to allow as many of our students to be in the photos as possible.
Foundation Stage (Parent Survey): Thank you to all parents who have completed our FS2 Parent Survey. 88% of parents have indicated their support for the proposed later finish of 1.50 pm. Please see below for further details.
Foundation Stage/Primary (Cool Weather): Parents should please send a jacket/jumper to school with children now the weather is cooler for break times.
Primary Girls (Afternoon Pick-Up): All Primary Students (Years 1-6) will be collected from the MUGA court. Robust Covid measures can then be ensured as we continue to do everything possible to protect our community. Adults should stand on the green sections, next to the Year group pick up areas. Thank you for your support.
Primary (Period 6 Attendance Onsite): A reminder to email class teachers if they would like their child to participate in the P6 session in school. Pick-up for those attending P6 is from 2.40 pm until 3 pm. Please arrive to collect your child on time. For those not attending P6 onsite, pick up is from 2 pm to 2.20 pm. Pupils return to class at 2.20 pm, should they not have been collected and return for the 2.40pm pick up.
Secondary (UK GCSE and A Level Examinations): Students and Parents in Years 11-12 will now be aware that international exam boards have now made the decision to cancel this year's GCSE and A Level examinations and replace them with an alternative form of teacher assessment. Please see below for further details.
For online learners: For those who have not received the Ministry of Education text books for Term 2 yet, kindly visit the school by the end of next week, 11/02/2021, to receive your children’ books from the main reception. اجتماعات أولياء الأمور مع المعلمين بيوم الإثنين الموافق 8 فبراير، وبيوم الأربعاء الموافق 10 فبراير – الاجتماعات على الإنترنت.
أولياء الأمور الكرام،
تود إدارة المدرسة أن تدعو حضراتكم إلى حضور اجتماعات أولياء الأمور التي ستُعقد في الأيام التالية:
· الإثنين الموافق 8 فبراير- من الساعة 3:00 مساءً وحتى 6:00 مساءً.
· الأربعاء الموافق 10 فبراير – من الساعة 3:00 مساءً وحتى 6:00 مساءً.
وسيتم عقد الاجتماعات على Microsoft Teams، حيث سينضم أولياء الأمور إلى الاجتماعات من خلال حساب أصغر طفل لديهم على البرنامج.
وعليه، سيحتاج أولياء الأمور ممن لديهم أكثر من طفل بالمدرسة إلى الدخول على حساب أصغر طفل لديهم ببداية اجتماع أولياء الأمور مع المعلمين. وسيتصل معلمو أطفالهم الآخرين بهم من خلال هذا الحساب بموعد الاجتماع المحدد.
يرجى العلم بأن مدة الاجتماع مع كل معلم ستكون 10 دقائق لكل ولي أمر، وأنه من الضروري الالتزام بالموعد المخصص، وذلك حفاظًا على سلاسة سير الاجتماعات.
كما سيتسنى لحضراتكم الاجتماع بأعضاء فريق قادة المدرسة خلال اجتماعات أولياء الأمور مع المعلمين بهذا الأسبوع. وفي حال رغبتكم لعمل الترتيبات الخاصة بتخصيص وقت للتحدث مع أحد أعضاء فريق قادة المدرسة، يرجى التواصل مع عضو فريق قادة المدرسة ذي الصلة لعمل الترتيبات لأجل تحديد موعد.
Parent Teacher Consultations Monday 8th February and Wednesday 10th February – Online Meetings
We are looking forward to seeing you this week at our Parent Teacher Consultations, which are taking place at the following times:
· Monday 8th February – 3.00pm to 6:00pm
· Wednesday 10th February – 3.00pm to 6:00pm
Meetings will be held on Microsoft Teams with parents accessing meetings through their youngest child’s network account.
As such, parents with more than one child at the school will only need to log in to their youngest child’s account at the start of the PTC session. Teachers of their other children will call them through this one account at the designated appointment time.
All meetings will last a maximum of 10 minutes and t is important that these time allocations are adhered to in order to ensure a smooth running of the meetings.
Members of the Senior Leadership Team will also be available to meet with parents during our PTC sessions this week. If you would like to arrange a time to speak to a school leader, please contact the relevant member of the leadership team to arrange an appointment time.
Exams Update
أعلنت OxfordAQA بالأسبوع الماضي عن قرارها بشأن إلغاء اختبارات الشهادة العامة الدولية للتعليم الثانوي واختبارات المستوى أ، وأكدت على أن الطلبة سيحصلون على درجات تقييمية من قبل المعلمين بالاتساق مع الطلبة الدارسين في إنجلترا. وبمدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية، نحن بانتظار حصولنا على التأكيد والاعتماد من قبل CAIEفيما يتعلق بمؤهلاتهم الدراسية الدولية. ويتمثل تركيزنا الحالي في ضرورة حضور الطلبة للحصص الدراسية، وأهمية عملهم بكل جد واجتهاد، واظهارهم لأفضل ما لديهم. وسيتم مشاركة كل جديد من المعلومات والتطورات مع الطلبة وعائلاتهم بمجرد حصولنا على التأكيد بشأنها.
In the past week OxfordAQA and Pearson exam boards have announced their decision to cancel international GCSE and Alevel examinations and confirmed that students will receive Teacher Assessed Grades, in line with students in England. At GNS, we are currently awaiting confirmation from CAIE in terms of their international qualifications. In due time, our focus is clear that the students need to be attending lessons, working hard and showing their best ability. All new information and developments will be shared with students and their families as soon as they are confirmed.
MoE Equivalency
القوانين والتشريعات المعتمدة من وزارة التربية والتعليم التي ستؤثر على المدارس التي تتبع المنهاج البريطاني
أعتمدت وزارة التربية والتعليم مؤخرًا قرارًا من شأنه تحسين توقعات العملية التعليمية المقدمة في مادتي اللغة العربية والدراسات الإسلامية لطلاب المدارس الخاصة التي تتبع المنهاج البريطاني، كما سيكون للقرار تأثير على الطلبة الذين يرغبون بالتخرج في السنة الثانية عشرة ويحتاجون إلى شهادة المعادلة من وزارة التربية والتعليم.
إن النظام البريطاني يختلف عن نظام البكالوريا الدولية ومنهاج وزارة التربية والتعليم و النظام الأمريكي من حيث مسميات الصفوف الدراسية. لذلك على سبيل المثال، حيث إن الطالب الذي يتراوح عمره بين ست و سبع سنوات والذي سيكون في السنة الثانية في مدرسة ذات منهاج بريطاني يعادل الصف الأول بمدرسة المناهج الأخرى المذكورة أعلاه، أما الطالب الذي يتراوح عمره بين 16 و 17 عاماً والذي سيكون في السنة الثانية عشر فإنه يعادل الصف الحادي عشر في مدرسة ذات منهاج أمريكي أو منهاج وزاري أو بنظام البكالوريا الدولية. لذلك كان يوجد تحدي كبير في تعليم وتدريس مواد اللغة العربية و الدراسات الإسلامية في المدارس التي تتبع المنهاج البريطاني. حتى أن طلبة السنة الثانية كانوا يدرسون كتب الصف الثاني بدلًا من الصف الأول، علمًا بأن الكتب الدراسية للصف الأول مناسبة وملائمة بشكل عام لأعمارهم ومستوياتهم ومهارتهم التعلمية.
ولذلك قررت وزارة التربية والتعليم تعديل هذا الوضع في هذا العام من خلال موائمة السنوات الدراسية في جميع المدارس الموجودة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة تبعًا للمنهاج الدراسي المتبع.
وستؤثر هذه التغييرات على طلبة العام الدراسي الحالي(2020-2021) والعام المقبل (2021-2022) حيث لن تمنح وزارة التربية والتعليم شهادة معادلة الثانوية العامة حتى يتم الانتهاء من جميع العناصر المطلوبة، بما في ذلك اللغة العربية والدراسات الإسلامية ولا يمكن تحقيق ذلك إلا في السنة الثالثة عشرة.
ولا يزال بإمكان طلبة السنة الثانية عشرة في المدارس الخاصة التي تتبع المنهاج البريطاني( أي الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 16 – 17 عاما) التخرج من المدرسة في هذا العمر، لكنهم لن يحصلوا على شهادة المعادلة من وزارة التربية والتعليم. وقد يؤثر ذلك على قدرتهم على مواصلة تعليمهم الجامعي في بعض الجامعات الحكومية والخاصة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة أو الجامعات الإقليمية الأخرى الواقعة في مصر على سبيل المثال حيث أن شهادة المعادلة مطلب أساسي من متطلبات هذة الجامعات، بالإضافة الى المدة الزمنية للخدمة الوطنية.

Ministry of Education legislation which will affect schools offering UK curriculum
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has recently clarified expectations related to Arabic and Islamic studies provision for British school curriculum students and its implications for students who wish to leave secondary education in Year 12 and require a MOE High School Equivalency Certificate.
The British system operates a different grading system to IB, MOE and American counterparts in terms of naming the various age stages of learning. For example, a six-to seven-year-old entering Year 2 in a British school would be at Grade 1 level in a non-British institution and a 16 to 17-year-old entering Year 12 would be at Grade 11 in an American, MOE or IB school. This has had an impact to the Arabic and Islamic courses and textbooks they have been studying so that the Year 2 pupils have been working with Grade 2 level books instead of Grade 1, which is more appropriate to their age and skill level.
The MOE has rectified this situation this year by aligning Years and Grades in all schools based in the UAE. The above-mentioned changes, will affect students in the current academic year (2020-21) and next year (2021-22) as the MOE will now only grant its High School Equivalency Certificate when all elements, including Arabic and Islamic studies, have been completed. This can only be achieved in Year 13.
Year 12 students from British schools (i.e. aged 16-17) can still leave school at this age, but they will not obtain the Equivalency Certificate. This may impact their ability to go into further education, particularly here in the UAE or other regional institutions such as in Egypt. This will depend on the requirements of the various universities. As well as the duration of national services.

Safer Internet Day
بيوم الثلاثاء الموافق 9 فبراير، ستحتفي مدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية بالنسخة 18 من اليوم العالمي للإنترنت الآمن تحت شعار "معًا لإنترنت أفضل".
وبهذا اليوم سيتلقى كل طلبتنا درسًا عن السلامة والأمن على الإنترنت، وسيشاركوننا بأفكارهم نحو بناء مجتمع رقمي أفضل.
كما سيشارك الطلبة في تحدي "فكر"، حيث ستتاح لهم الفرصة لعمل ملصق/ رسم فكاهي رقمي؛ أو فيديو ملهم؛ أو بودكاست مؤثر أو عمل فني معاصر.
وسيعمل فريقنا على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي بكل نشاط وفعالية من أجل دعم مشاركتنا في فعاليات هذا اليوم من خلال هاشتاج حملة SID: #SaferInternetDay و#SID2021.

On Tuesday, 9th February 2021, GNS will be supporting the celebrated 18th edition of Safer Internet Day with a theme once again of "Together for a better internet".
On this day, ALL of our students will have a lesson on safety on the Internet and will contribute their thoughts towards having a better digital community.
Students will also take part in the THINK Challenge where they will be given an option to create a digital poster/comic strip; an inspiring video; a powerful podcast or a modern artwork.
Our social media team will actively promote our participation on the day through SID’s campaign hashtags #SaferInternetDay and #SID2021.

يواجه الطلبة بجميع أنحاء العالم العديد من الضغوطات، مع زيادة حدتها خلال هذه الجائحة. وقد نظم مينا جعفر، رئيس لجنة الرفاهية بالمرحلة التعليمية الخاصة بمن يزيد عمرهم عن 16 عامًا، مقابلة طلابية مع أحد رواد الأعمال الإماراتيين. والهدف من هذه المقابلة هو إبراز أهمية مواجهة تحدياتنا، وأن النجاح يأتي فقط من خلال التصميم والعمل الجاد والإيجابية. كما وجهت السيدة/ أرشي أيوب زافيري، الرئيس التنفيذي للثقة مع التجارة وكبير مستشاري مكاتب العائلة الملكية، حديثها المفعم بالبلاغة والفصاحة لطلبتنا بالصف الحادي عشر والصف الثاني عشر، مما ألهمهم وأثرى أفكارهم.
There is much pressure on students across the world, more so during this pandemic. Our Head of the Wellbeing committee in Post 16, Minna Gaafar, organised a student led panel interview with an Emirati entrepreneur. The aim of the session was to show how important it is to face our challenges and that success only comes with a positive attitude, determination and hard work.Ms. Arshi Ayub Zaveri ,CEO Trade with Trust, Senior Advisor to Royal Family Offices, spoke eloquently and inspired our students in Year 11 and 12.
Emirates Airline Festival of Literature
يعد مهرجان طيران الإمارات للآداب واحدًا من أهم المهرجانات الأدبية الرائدة بالعالم كله، حيث ستُقام فعالياته بدبي على مدار الأسبوعين التاليين.
وهو أكبر احتفالية بالعالم العربي للكلمة المكتوبة والمنطوقة. وتعزز هذه الفعالية السنوية، المقامة بدبي، من أهمية الكتب والقراءة وثراء الكلمات وغناها في كل صورة وشكل منها. حيث يعبر هذا المهرجان عن تقدير وفهم مختلف الثقافات، إلى جانب السبل التي تقوم من خلالها الأعمال الآداب بإثراء حياتنا جميعًا.

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, one of the world’s leading international literary festivals, is taking place in Dubai over the next two weeks.
It is the Arab World’s largest celebration of the written and spoken word. The annual event in Dubai promotes books, reading and the richness of words in all its forms. It brings an appreciation and understanding of different cultures and the ways in which literature enhances all our lives.
Across the school, GNS are celebrating the festival next week in English and Arabic lessons. Remote learners will be able to take part too through streamed sessions.

سيختار طلبة الصف التاسع، لأول مرة بحياتهم، المواد التي يرغبون في دراستها. فهذا الخيار الهام سيكون له واقع مؤثر على خياراتهم الوظيفية، وخياراتهم التعليمية، وخياراتهم الحياتية المستقبلية. وبيوم الخميس الماضي، حضر أولياء أمور وطلبة الصف التاسع أمسية الخيارات. حيث بدأت الأمسية بعرض تقديمي عن الشهادة العامة للتعليم الثانوي/ الشهادة العامة الدولية للتعليم الثانوي؛ ومجالس الاختبارات الخارجية؛ والنظام البريطاني لإعطاء الدرجات 1-9، ومتطلبات المرحلة التأسيسية الخامسة؛ والتوقعات الجامعية. ويرجى من الطلبة إكمال استبيان قصير لاختيار المواد التي يرغبون في دراستها بالصف العاشر. وهذه الخيارات لن تكون خياراتهم النهائية. فبعد هذا الاستبيان، سنقوم بتزويدكم بوصف تفصيلي للمواد الدراسية الموجودة بكتيب الخيارات الذي يوضح المواصفات المعينة من قبل لجنة الاختبارات لكل مادة دراسية موجود بالخيارات. وعلاوة على ذلك، سيحضر طلبة الصف التاسع حصصًا تجريبية لتزويدهم بلمحات مختصرة عن المواد الدراسية، وللإجابة أيضًا على أسئلتهم.
Year 9 students, for the first time in their life, will get to choose the subjects they study. This is a very important choice which will affect our children’s future job choices, education choices and life Choices. Last Thursday Year 9 parents and students have attended Options Evening. The meeting started with a presentation about GCSE/iGCSE; External Examination Boards; the British 9 – 1 Grading System; Key Stage 5 requirements; and university prospects.
We are asking our students to complete a short survey to select subjects they are interested to study in Year 10. This is not their final selection. After the survey we will provide detailed subject description in the Options Booklet that details the exam board specification for each option subject. Moreover, Year 9 students will attend taster sessions that will provide subjects overview and answer questions.

أولياء الأمور الكرام،
أود أن أعرب عن شكري وامتناني لكم على مشاركتكم المتعاونة والمفيدة جدًا في المشاورات الخاصة بمواعيد الروضة 2. ونحن حريصون على الاستعانة بمردوداتكم القيمة كي نتمكن من اتخاذ كافة الإجراءات السليمة حتى يتسنى لنا تحسين المعايير الأكاديمية والمنهاج الدراسي المتبع بمرحلة الروضة 2.
الردود الواردة على الاستبيان:
· لقد تلقينا ردودًا من 42 ولي أمر على الاستبيان.
· وقد أدلى 88% من المشاركين بالاستبيان بدعمهم للخطط المعينة في مشاوراتنا الخاصة بمواعيد اليوم الدراسي لمرحلة الروضة 2.
وعليه، فاعتبارًا من يوم الأحد الموافق 21 فبراير، سيتم العمل بالمواعيد التالية:
- ينتهي اليوم الدراسي لطلبة الروضة 2 بتمام الساعة 1:50م، من يوم الأحد إلى يوم الأربعاء.
- سنستمر في العمل بالجدول الزمني الخاص بطلبة مرحلة الروضة من يوم الأحد إلى يوم الأربعاء، ومع ذلك، سينهي طلبة الروضة 2 يومهم الدراسي بتمام الساعة 1:50م.
- سيكون هناك إشرافًا على الأشقاء لطلبة الروضة 2 مع أشقائهم بالمرحلة الثانوية. وسيخاطب المعلمون أولياء الأمور لتحديد الراغبين في الحصول على هذه الميزة للإشراف على الأشقاء.

Foundation Stage 2 Times of the Day Consultation Outcome
Dear Respected Parents,
I would like to thank you for your participation and extremely helpful engagement in our Foundation Stage 2 Times of the Day Consultation. We are committed to using your valuable feedback to enable us to take the correct course of action so that we can improve academic standards and curriculum experience in Foundation Stage 2.
Survey responses:
· 42 parents responded to the survey.
· 88% of respondents stated that they support the plans outlined in our consultation on Foundation Stage 2 Times of the Day.
As such, from Sunday 21st February:
- FS2 School Day to finish at 1.50pm Sunday – Wednesday.
- The timetable for students in the Foundation Stage will continue to operate from Sunday to Wednesday, however, students in FS2 will finish the school day at 1.50pm.
- Sibling supervision will be in place for students in FS2 with siblings in the secondary phase. FS2 teachers will write to parents to identify who would wish to opt for this supervision.
- The extended day will ensure sufficient coverage of our bilingual curriculum enabling students to achieve the required curriculum standards.
Supporting Parents who are not in favour of the change:
Parents who are not in favour of the change will continue to have the option to collect their children at the current finish time of 12.00pm. The curriculum timetable will be designed so that core subjects are mainly delivered before 12.00pm with a focus on the wider curriculum after 12.00pm.

GNS Secondary Spelling Bee

سيحصل طلبة الصف السابع وحتى الصف العاشر بهذا الشهر على فرصة للاشتراك في مسابقة التهجئة بمدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية لعام 2021. وهي مسابقة ودية يُطالب فيها المتسابقون بتهجئة كلمات مليئة بالتحدي، تختلف درجة صعوبتها من كلمة لأخرى. وللتباري في هذه المسابقة، يتعين على الطلبة حفظ هجاء الكلمات التي تم رفعها على "Teams"، ومعرفة معانيها. وهذه المسابقة عبارة عن أربع جولات، والجولة الأولى بها هي اختبار للمفردات. والطالب الذي سيبقى وينجح لآخر المسابقة، سيكون هو الفائز. فهذه المسابقة ثمرة من ثمار شغفنا وحبنا للقراءة والكتابة بمدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية.

This month students in years 7 through to year 10 will have opportunity to take part in the GNS 2021 Spelling Bee. A spelling bee is a friendly competition in which contestants are asked to spell a selection of challenging words, although they do have a varying degree of difficulty. To compete, students must memorize the spellings of words that have been uploaded onto ‘Teams’ and learn the meanings also. There are a total of four rounds to the competition, the preliminary round being a vocabulary test. The student who is last in the competition will be crowned the winner. Literacy is at the heart of Gems GNS.

نحن نعمل بمدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية عن كثب مع كل من هيئة الصحة بدبي وهيئة المعرفة والتنمية البشرية فيما يتعلق بوجود أي حالة إصابة إيجابية بفيروس كورونا المستجد في مدرستنا. كما
أننا نتعاون معًا من أجل ضمان إنفاذ أعلى تدابير السلامة، إلى جانب إجراء الفحوصات الاعتيادية بمدرستنا من قبل كلتا الهيئتين. ولا يزال المردود الوارد من عمليات الفحص إيجابي حيث أثبتت التدابير الوقائية فعاليتها وجدواها بكل زيارة للفحص
وعندما نتلقى إشعارًا بخصوص وجود حالة إيجابية بالمدرسة، نقوم على الفور بوضع خطة للتتبع ويعمل فريق التتبع بكل فعالية وكفاءة وسرعة لتحديد المخالطين، ولموافاة العائلات بالمستجدات، وبالطبع لضمان تطبيق عملية التعقيم والتطهير العميقة
وفي حال وجود حالة إصابة إيجابية في فصل طفلكم (عضو من فريق العمل أو أحد الطلبة)، ستسلمون بريدًا إلكترونيًا مُرسل للفصل بأكمله لإعلامكم بهذا الأمر. وفي حال تم تشخيص طفلكم على أنه حالة مخالطة، ستتلقون مكالمة هاتفية يعقبها بريد إلكتروني مُرسل إليكم بشكل فردي لتزويدكم بالمزيد من المعلومات. وحيث أننا نتبع تعليمات وإرشادات المراسلات الواردة إلينا من قبل هيئة المعرفة والتنمية البشرية، فنحن لا نرسل رسائل البريد الإلكتروني لكل أفراد المجتمع المدرسي، ولا يمكننا مشاركة المعلومات حول الحالة الإيجابية مع الآخرين، ولكن نؤكد لكم، أنه مع وجود التدابير المتبعة لدينا، يعمل نظام المتابعة واقتفاء أثر المخالطين بالمدرسة على حماية كامل أفراد مجتمعنا المدرسي
وفي بعض الأوقات، من الممكن أن يتغيب أحد أفراد العمل بالمدرسة عن الحضور. وهناك العديد من الأسباب التي قد تؤدي إلى ذلك، مثل: الشعور بالإعياء (على غير صلة بفيروس كورونا المستجد)، أو مرض أحد أطفالهم بالمنزل، أو بسبب حالة شخصية طارئة، أو تشخيصهم على أنهم مخالطين لحالة إصابة إيجابية. فتغيب أحد أفراد العمل المدرسي عن الحضور إلى المدرسة لا يعني إصابته بفيروس كورونا المستجد. فنحن نتبع سياسة "البقاء في المنزل حال الشعور بالإعياء" الصارمة، وهي السياسة التي يلتزم فريق عملنا الرائع بالامتثال لها، وذلك لأجل ضمان إبقاء طلبتنا وكل زملائنا بسلام

Ø أبقي طفلك بالمنزل حال شعوره بالإعياء.

Ø إخطارنا فورًا حال كانت نتيجة طفلك إيجابية لفحص كورونا المستجد، وشاركنا بالمزيد من التفاصيل، مثل:
o تاريخ بداية ظهور الأعراض المرضية.
o آخر يوم حضر به طفلك إلى المدرسة.
o تاريخ ومكان إجراء الفحص.
Ø إبقاء المدرسة على علم في حال مخالطة طفلك لحالة إيجابية.
Ø تجنب نشر الأخبار الزائفة أو المتضاربة.

Our school photographers, Stu Williamson, where in school capturing some lovely images of our students. Individual photos are available for families to view and purchase via Stu Williamson. We are planning to have a further session to capture those who were absent during the initial photography sessions and so class photos will hold until these are completed to allow as many of our students to be in the photos as possible.
COVID-19 Update
At GNS we work very closely with both the DHA and KHDA with regards to any positive case we have at our school. We collaborate together to ensure the highest of safety measures are in place and we have regular inspections from DHA and KHDA. The feedback from our inspections remains ever positive as the strict precautionary measures we have in place are evident at each visit.
When we receive notification about a positive case at school, we immediately put our track and trace team in to action and work swiftly and efficiently to identify close contacts, update families and of course, ensure our deep sanitisation process is carried out.
If there is a positive case in your child’s class (staff member or student) you will receive a class wide email to inform you of this. If your child is identified as a close contact, you will receive a call followed by an individual email with further information. We follow the guidelines of communication as set by KHDA and as such, we do not send school wide emails and are unable to share who was positive, but assure you, with the measures we have in place, our track and trace procedure at school is there to safeguard our whole community.
At times, staff members may be absent from school. There are a number of reasons for this such as feeling unwell with general sickness, a child at home unwell, a personal emergency or they may have been identified as a close contact of someone who has received a positive result for COVID-19. We have a strict ‘stay at home if unwell policy’ that our wonderful team at GNS adhere to, to ensure we keep our students and our colleagues safe.
What can you as a parent do to support us as we continue to battle COVID-19?
Ø Keep your child at home if they are unwell
Ø Alert us immediately if there is a positive case at your home
Ø Alert us immediately if your child tests positive, sharing details such as;
o When the symptoms began
o The last day your child was in school
o When and where the test was conducted
Ø Keep school informed if your child was a close contact to a positive case
Ø Avoid sharing rumours or speculation

COVID-19 Vaccine Programme
GEMS Education is supporting the UAE Government’s drive to have the population of the UAE vaccinated. We are actively supporting eligible staff members to go and receive the vaccine and we encourage our school community to do the same. Expo 2020
ﺗﻨﻄﻠﻖ ﻓﻌﺎﻟﻴﺎت اﻟﻌﺮض اﻷول ﻟﻠﺠﻤﻬﻮر ﻓﻲ 22 ﻳﻨﺎﻳﺮ وﺗﺴﺘﻤﺮ إﻟﻰ 01 إﺑﺮﻳﻞ 2021، ﺣﻴﺚ ﺳﻨﺘﻴﺢ اﻟﻔﺮﺻﺔ اﻟﺬﻫﺒﻴﺔ ﻟﻌﻤﻮم الجمهور إلى التعرف على جزء من اكسبو 2020، اﺑﺘﺪاء بتجربة جناح الاستدامة "تيرَا"، للخوض في رحلة غامرة عبر عجائب الطبيعة التي ﻣﻦ ﺧﻼﻟﻬﺎ ﻧﻠﻬﻢ اﻟﺰوار ﻟﻠﻤﺴﺎﻫﻤﺔ ﻓﻲ ﺻﻨﻊ ﻣﺴﺘﻘﺒﻞ أﻓﻀﻞ وأﻛﺜﺮ اﺳﺘﺪاﻣﺔ. وﻳﻔﺘﺢ ﺟﻨﺎﺣﻨﺎ اﻷول اﻟﻤﻔﻌﻢ ﺑﺎﻟﺘﺸﻮﻳﻖ أﺑﻮاﺑﻪ ﻟﻠﺠﻤﻬﻮر ﻓﻲ 22 ﻳﻨﺎﻳﺮ، و يتبعه كل من جناحيَ التنقل و الفرص في مواعيد لاحقة من العام الجاري و لمزيد من المعلومات برجاء الضغط هنا.
From 22 January to 10 April 2021, we invite the general public to experience a taster of Expo 2020, starting with Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion, where you can experience an immersive journey through the wonders of the natural world and be inspired to create a better, more sustainable future. Our first exciting pavilion is launching on 22 January, with the Mobility Pavilion and Opportunity Pavilion launching at later dates, for more details please click here.

في كل عام، نطلب مساعدتكم و تشجيعكم على المشاركة في الاستبانة السنوية للهيئة، وهي فرصةٌ مميزة لفريقنا لتكوين تصورات شاملة حول مدرستكم وكافة المدارس الخاصة في دبي. وسنسير في هذا العام على نفس المنوال.
تبقى استبانة ولي الأمر "صوتك مسموع" مفتوحة هذا العام حتى يوم الخميس الموافق 11 فبراير، ولا يستغرق ملؤها أكثر من 10 دقائق. وقد أرسلنا رابط المشاركة إلى الكثيرين من أولياء الأمور عبر البريد الإلكتروني. وبالطبع كلما كان عدد المشاركين في الاستبانة أكبر، كلما تمكنا من بناء تصورات أوضح. نرجو الضغط على هذا الرابط لاستكمال الاستبيان.
الجدير ذكره أننا سنشارك النتائج الإجمالية للاستبانة مع جميع الأطراف المعنية في مجتمعنا التعليمي خلال الأسابيع القليلة المقبلة. وكحافز إضافي لمشاركة أولياء الأمور، ستُتاح الفرصة لكل مشارك منهم لدخول السحب على بطاقات دخول سنوية لمنتجعات وحدائق دبي باركس آند ريزورتس.

Every year, we ask for your help and encouragement to take part in the annual KHDA survey, which gives our team insights about your school, and all schools in Dubai. This year is no different.
The KHDA Parents’ Survey, #BecauseYouSaidSo, is open now until Thursday, February 11. It takes just 10 minutes to complete. Many parents in Dubai have already received a link to the survey by email. The more parents who complete the survey, we better insights we’ll get. Please click on this link to complete the survey.
We’ll be sharing the overall results of the survey with everyone in our community in the next few weeks. As an extra incentive, each parent who takes part in the survey will go into the draw to win a free annual pass to Dubai Parks & Resorts.

Jewels of Kindness
لقد تم في العام الدراسي الماضي إطلاق برنامج "نجوم جيمس في حسن معاملة الآخرين"، الذي يهدف إلى الإشادة بالطلبة الذين يتحلون بسلوكيات تمثل قيم الاحترام والإحسان للآخرين. كما تكمن أهمية هذا البرنامج في التأكيد على ضرورة تعليم هذه القيم للطلبة ليصبحوا مواطنين عالميين صالحين.
At the end of last year, we launched the GEMS Jewels of Kindness program which seeks to exemplify students exhibiting core values including compassion, kindness, respect, helpfulness and empathy.
The aim of this program is to emphasize the importance of values education to help our children become better world citizens.

GEMS Rewards is our way of saying thank you to our community of Parents, Staff and Students.
It is a structured programme which consists of multiple components which aspire to help reduce the impact of annual tuition fees and help achieve the objective of making quality education accessible.
