"التسامح واجب. إذا كان أعظم العظماء الخالق عز وجل يسامح، فنحن بشر خُلقنا، ألا نتسامح". (المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان).
الإمارات هي منارة التسامح والتعايش في العالم، حيث ينتهز قادتنا الصغار كل الفرص لتطوير وتنمية فهمهم لهذه القيم الأساسية. ومن خلال برنامجنا لهذا الأسبوع والخاص بموضوع ضد التنمر واحتفالاتنا باليوم الدولي للتسامح، أوجد طلبتنا طرقًا إبداعية لإظهار امتثالهم لقيم العطف وتقبل الغير. فمن متعة الألعاب بالقلوب وبصمات اليد وتركيب قطع الأحجية (الألغاز) بمرحلة الروضة، إلى إلقاء الخطابات بثقة وفخر من قبل طلبة المرحلة التأسيسية الرابعة، نحن نفخر ونعتز برؤية متعلمينا خلال خوضهم لمراحل مختلفة من رحلتهم نحو تنمية وتطوير شخصياتهم.
كما أود تهنئة طلبة الصف الحادي عشر على أدائهم الرائع وتكيفهم المذهل في الأسبوع الأول للاختبارات التجريبية (Mock Examinations) لامتحانات الشهادة العامة الدولية للتعليم الثانوي. حيث يمثل مؤهل الشهادة العامة الدولية للتعليم الثانوي معيارًا ذهبيًا ضمن المعايير الأكاديمية، كما أن إجراء هذه الاختبارات التجريبية يدل على أن غرس طلبتنا في هذه العملية سيعدهم ويجهزهم لأداء الاختبارات الفعلية بشهر مايو ويونيو. وعلاوة على كون هذه الاختبارات تحديًا أكاديميًا، فإنها تمد طلبة مدرسة جيمس الوطنية بفرص لأجل توسيع وتعميق خبراتهم التعلمية. وفي الوقت نفسه، أسعدني بدء برنامجنا الخاص بالأنشطة اللامنهجية بهذا الأسبوع، وأتطلع إلى اكتشاف المزيد حول المجموعة المتنوعة للأنشطة الممتعة التي سيشارك بها طلبتنا على مدار الأسابيع المقبلة.
كما نستمر في العد التنازلي نحو الاحتفال باليوم الوطني الإماراتي لعام 2020 بيوم الأحد الموافق 29 نوفمبر. ويرمي هذا الاحتفال إلى وضع طلبتنا بقلب الأحداث والإجراءات التي تبرز إنجازاتهم، وتعزز من فخرهم بهويتهم الوطنية.

The UAE is a beacon of tolerance and coexistence in the world and our young leaders take every opportunity to develop their understanding of these core values. Throughout our Anti-Bullying Week programme this week and our celebration of the International Day of Tolerance, students have found creative ways to demonstrate their commitment to acceptance and kindness. From the fun of games with hearts, hand prints and jigsaw puzzles in the Foundation Stage to the confidently articulated speeches of students in Key Stage 4, we take great pride watching our learners on different points of their journey of character development.
I would like to congratulate Year 11 students for coping fantastically well with their first week of IGCSE Mock Examinations. The IGCSE qualifications represent a gold standard in academic standards and the discipline that our students are instilling in themselves through this process will prepare them for the real examinations in May and June. As well as academic challenge, GNS students are provided with opportunities for broad and deep learning experiences. At the same time I was delighted that our ECA programme was launched this week and look forward to finding out more about the wide range of interesting activities that our students will be taking part in over the coming weeks.
The countdown continues to our National Day 2020 on Sunday 29th November. The day promises to put students at the heart of proceedings, demonstrating their achievements and reinforcing their pride in their national identity.

يرجى من أولياء الأمور الاطلاع على المرفق طيه البرنامج الخاص بالورش الإضافية المتعلقة بفعاليات أسبوع ضد التنمر، والتي تقدمها هيئة الصحة بدبي.
في هذا الأسبوع بدأ طلبتنا بالصف الحادي عشر في أداء اختباراتهم التجريبية (mock exams)، وسيبدأ طلبة الصف الثاني عشر بأداء اختباراتهم التجريبية الأولى في شهر يناير عقب انتهاء إجازة الشتاء مباشرةً.
يعد شهر نوفمبر هو شهر اللياقة بدبي. ويرجى الاطلاع على التفاصيل الواردة أدناه والخاصة بالطرق التي سيتمكن من خلالها طلبتنا وعائلاتنا من الاشتراك في تحدي دبي للياقة.
يتعين على كل أولياء الأمور والأوصياء والبالغين الآخرين ممن لديهم تصريح باصطحاب الطلبة من المدرسة إظهار الشارات الصفراء حتى يتسنى لأعضاء فريق العمل رؤيتها. وفي حال عدم حصولكم، أو أي أفراد بالغين آخرين، على الشارات الصفراء، يرجى التأكد من ملء نموذج طلب الحصول على الشارة الذي تمت مشاركته معكم بيوم الأربعاء الموافق 4 نوفمبر عبر البريد الإلكتروني reception_gns@gemsedu.com
Parents should please see the attached programme of additional Anti-Bullying Week Workshops which have been made available by the Dubai Health Authority.
This week Year 11 students have started their mock exams and year 12 students will sit for their first mocks in January right after the winter break.
November is the month of fitness across to Dubai. Please see details below of the ways that our students and families will be able to get involved in the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
All parents, guardians and other adults who have permission to collect students from school must have their yellow lanyard visible for staff members to see. If you, or other adults collecting your child, do not yet have their yellow lanyards, please ensure you fill the application form shared with you on Wednesday 4th November with reception_gns@gemsedu.com

قال تعالى في محكم كتابه: (فمن عفا وأصلح فأجره على الله).
والعفو من معاني التسامح التي ينال صاحبها أجرا عظيما.
إن التسامح من أعظم القيم الإنسانية الراقية، والمبادئ الإسلامية الفاضلة، وحقيقته: حب الخير للناس، واحترامهم وتقديرهم، واللين في التعامل معهم، ومقابلتهم بالإحسان، ورؤية فضلهم وحسناتهم، والصفح عن أخطائهم وزلاتهم.
حيث قام طلاب جيمس البرشاء الوطنية في اليوم العالمي للتسامح بنشر رسائل التسامح من خلال مشاركتهم في مختلف الأنشطة التي أبرزت تمسكهم بأرفع الأخلاق كما أظهروا أيضا تمسكهم بنشر رؤية قادة الإمارات وحفظهم لنهج زايد (رحمه الله) زايد العطاء والإنسانية
The Almighty says ‘If a person forgives and makes reconciliation, he will receive his reward from Allah.’
Tolerance is one of the greatest human values and virtuous Islamic principles. It represents, respect and appreciation of people, kindness, seeing good in other people and forgiving their mistakes.
On the International Day of Tolerance, our students in GNS spread positive messages through their participation in different activities that demonstrated their commitment to highest standards of ethics. They also showed their compliance with spreading the vision of UAE leaders and their preservation of the approach of Zayed (May Allah bless his soul) in giving and loving humanity.
Anti-Bullying Week
لقد حققت فعاليات أسبوع ضد التنمر نجاحًا كبيرًا. حيث نجحت الأنشطة المختارة بعناية، والتي كان يغلب عليها عنصر المتعة، في إرسال وتوجيه رسائل هامة وهادفة. فبعد التحدث إلى العديد من الزملاء على مدار الأسبوع، قد اجمعوا جميعًا على تقبل واستجابة طلبتنا إلى الرسائل الرئيسية التالية:
كلنا متحدون ضد التنمر.
نحبذ اللطف في التعامل.
نحتفي باختلافاتنا، فهي تجعلنا فريدين ومميزين.
كن واثقًا بنفسك: توقف، تكلم، وسر أو أخبر شخص ما، ولا تتألم وحدك.
كما ساهم احتفالنا باليوم الدولي للتسامح بنفس الأسبوع في تعزيز الرسائل التي سعينا إلى إيصالها. ويرجى منكم التكرم بإلقاء نظرة على البادلت الخاص بنا، وإضافة رسالة منكم للدلالة على أننا جميعًا بصفتنا أفراد مجتمع مدرسي واحد نتحد ضد التنمر.
ونحن نسعد ونرحب طوال الوقت بتلقي ملاحظاتكم ومردوداتكم، فلربما قد حضرتم بعض الندوات التي تم تقديمها من قبل هيئة الصحة بدبي.

Our Anti Bullying week has been a big success. The carefully chosen activities, often with a fun element, conveyed serious messages. Having spoken to many colleagues during the course of the week they have all agreed that our students have been very receptive to the key messages:

Celebrate our differences, they make us unique
Be confident: STOP, TALK and WALK or tell someone, don’t suffer alone.
Having the Islamic Day of Tolerance within the same week also served to reinforce the messages we sought to communicate. Please take a moment to look at our padlet and add a message of your own to show that, as a community we are United Against Bullying.

Cooking competition
ندعو طلبتنا للاشتراك بمسابقة الطهي المباشرة على Teams، وذلك بصباح يوم الخميس في تمام الساعة 10:10 ص. وبمناسبة الاحتفال باليوم الوطني الإماراتي، سنقوم بطهي الأطعمة المحلية التقليدية. والتحدي هو عمل برج من اللقيمات أو عمل طبق بأي شكل منها. وستبدأ الفعالية بتمام الساعة 10:10 ص بيوم الخميس الموافق 26 نوفمبر. وسيكون لديكم ساعة لعمل البرج الخاص بكم في هذا الوقت.
ويجب تشغيل الكاميرا وفقًا لقواعد المسابقة.
كما يمكنكم القيام ببعض التحضيرات قبل البدء، ولكن سيتعين عليكم عمل الطبق النهائي خلال الساعة المحددة.
وأنا أتطلع إلى إبداعكم في الطهي، وتقديمكم للطبق، واستقلاليتكم بالعمل، ورؤية الشكل النهائي، وإلى استغلالكم وتنظيمكم للوقت.

Students are invited on Thursday morning at 10.10am to take part in a live cooking competition on Teams. To fit in with National Day celebrations we will be looking at local traditional food. The challenge is create a Gaemat tower or Gaemat creation. The event will start at 10.10am Thursday 26th November. You have one hour to create your tower in this time.
The rules are have your camera turned on
You can do some preparation before hand but you will need to do the final creation in the one hour set.
I am looking for creativity, presentation and independence, final creation, timing, organisation.

Mock Examinations
يعد هذا الوقت وقتًا حافلًا بالنسبة لطلبتنا بالمرحلة الثانوية، حيث أنهم يستعدون لأداء اختبارات تقييم نهاية الفصل الدراسي. وقد بدأ طلبة الصف الحادي عشر بهذا الأسبوع بأداء الاختبارات التجريبية (mock exams)، كما سيبدأ طلبة الصف الثاني عشر بأداء اختباراتهم التجريبية الأولى بشهر يناير، عقب إجازة الشتاء مباشرةً. ومن المهم أن يقوم كل الطلبة بمراجعة دروسهم بتمعن وبشكل مستفيض حتى اختبارات نهاية الفصل الدراسي، وأن تستمر هذه المراجعة على مدار العام الدراسي. كما يوجد هناك عددًا من المواقع الإلكترونية والموارد التي يمكن استخدامها لأجل دعم عملية المراجعة الجيدة والجاهزية لأداء الاختبارات. ويرجى الرجوع إلى دليل الدراسة من أجل دعم طفلكم خلال فترة اختبارات التقييم.
This is a busy time for our secondary students as they prepare for their end of term assessments. This week Year 11 students have started their mock exams and year 12 students will sit for their first mocks in January right after the winter break. It is important that all students revise thoroughly for end of term exams and that revision continues throughout the school year. There are a large number of websites and resources, that can be used to support good revision and preparation for examinations. Kindly refer to the study guide to support your child during assessment period.

الشارات الصفراء لأولياء الأمور
يرجى من أولياء الأمور والأوصياء التأكد من ارتداء شاراتهم الصفراء في كل مرة يأتون بها إلى المدرسة لأجل اصطحاب الطلبة.
وللعائلات العائدة، يمكنكم الاستمرار في استخدام شاراتكم السابقة، ومع ذلك، ففي حال رغبتكم في تغييرها والحصول على الجديدة، سيعمل فريق عملنا على الترتيبات الخاصة بإتمام هذه العملية.
وقد تم إرسال بريد إلكتروني إلى كل أولياء الأمور بيوم الأربعاء الموافق 4 نوفمبر، ومرفق به نموذج تقديم طلب الحصول على الشارة، وفي حال رغبة أي ولي أمر أو وصي بالحصول على شارة، يرجى منهم التواصل عبر البريد الإلكتروني reception_gns@gemsedu.com
سيقوم فريق العمل المدرسي بنهاية اليوم الدراسي بمطالبة الأفراد البالغين الذين سيقومون باصطحاب الطلبة بإظهار شاراتهم الصفراء.
Yellow Parent Lanyards
Parents and guardians who are coming on to the school site and collecting students must ensure they are wearing their yellow lanyards. If drivers and / or nannies are collecting students, they must also be wearing a lanyard with the details of the students they are collecting.
Returning families may use the lanyards they have from the previous year, however, if they would like an updated one, our team will work to arrange this.
An email was sent to all parents on Wednesday 4th November, with the application forms, any parents or guardians who may need a lanyard are requested to email reception_gns@gemsedu.com
Staff members on duty at the end of day dispersal will actively be asking all adults for their yellow lanyards.
Movember
خلال شهر "موفمبر" سيقوم طلبتنا بالأنشطة وجمع التبرعات للمساعدة في "تغيير مفهوم صحة الرجال". ففي هذا الأسبوع، قامت المرشدة الاجتماعية بوضع ملصقات لرجال يطلقون شواربهم لأجل إجراء المحادثات بسلاسة مع طلبتنا. وعلاوة على ذلك، قامت المرشدة الاجتماعية بالالتقاء بطلبة المرحلة الابتدائية لإجراء المزيد من المناقشات حول موفمبر، وكيفية مساهمة إطلاق الشارب في زيادة الوعي. وحيث أن طلبتنا بالمرحلة الابتدائية لا يمكنهم إطلاق شواربهم، فقد أعطيناهم الفرصة لزيادة الوعي من خلال الطبيعة! حيث سيشترك الطلبة في جرو-فمبر بهذا الشهر عن طريق إنماء نباتاتهم الخاصة على شكل شارب. وسيتم نشر المزيد من المعلومات على Seesaw.
وهدفنا الرئيسي بهذا الشهر هو تشجيع الرجال على إجراء الفحص الطبي. فالكثير من الرجال يتوفون بسن صغيرة، وبالكشف المبكر يمكننا إنقاذ آلاف الأرواح. وتذكروا أيضًا أن "إطلاق الشارب، ينقذ الرجال!"
During the month of “Movember” our students will lead activities and fund raisers to help “change the face of men’s health”. This week the counsellor has put up posters of men in moustaches just to get the conversation flowing among our students Furthermore the counsellor has visited the Primary students to further discuss Movember and how growing a moustache can raise awareness. Since our primary students cant grow their own moustaches, we’ve given them a chance to raise awareness through nature! Students will take part in Gro-vember this month by growing their own plant in the shape of moustache. More information will be posted on Seesaw.
Our main aim this month is to encourage the males in our lives to get a medical check-up. Too many men are dying young and with early detection we can save thousands of lives. And remember, “Grow a Mo, Save a Bro!”

نحن نتطلع إلى عام دراسي مثمر ورائع مع التزامنا بأعلى معاير الصحة والسلامة. ويعد اطلاعنا، بكل الأوقات، على آخر المستجدات المتعلقة بالتطورات/ الشواغل الصحية لدى الطلبة أو عائلاتهم بشأن فيروس كورونا المستجد هو أحد النقاط الهامة التي يتوجي علينا ضمانها. ولهذا الغرض، قمنا بإنشاء بريد إلكتروني مخصص لجمع كافة المعلومات الهامة ذات الصلة بهذا الشأن.

We look forward to a fantastic and fruitful academic year with high standards of Health and Safety. One of the key points that we need to secure about is that we are, at all times, updated about any COVID-19 related health concerns/developments in students or their families. For this purpose, we have created a dedicated email ID to gather all important information related to this.
We request you to please send any COVID-19 updates to staysafe_gns@gemsedu.com immediately. This email account will be regularly and frequently monitored and actioned by our Health and Safety Officer, Mrs. Pauline Bruce as well as our School Doctor, Dr. Amira.

As per the guidance received from KHDA, we have developed a ‘Stay at home if unwell’ policy for our school. This policy is relevant to our students, staff and parents, our whole community.

Jewels of Kindness
لقد تم في العام الدراسي الماضي إطلاق برنامج "نجوم جيمس في حسن معاملة الآخرين"، الذي يهدف إلى الإشادة بالطلبة الذين يتحلون بسلوكيات تمثل قيم الاحترام والإحسان للآخرين. كما تكمن أهمية هذا البرنامج في التأكيد على ضرورة تعليم هذه القيم للطلبة ليصبحوا مواطنين عالميين صالحين.
At the end of last year, we launched the GEMS Jewels of Kindness program which seeks to exemplify students exhibiting core values including compassion, kindness, respect, helpfulness and empathy.
The aim of this program is to emphasize the importance of values education to help our children become better world citizens.

برنامج مكافآت GEMS هي وسيلتنا في الإعراب عن الشكر لأولياء امورنا وموظفينا وطلابنا.
و هو برنامج يتكون من عناصر عدة تطمح إلى المساعدة في الحد من تأثير الرسوم الدراسية السنوية و المساعدة في تحقيق هدف جعل التعليم الجيد متاحًا.
GEMS Rewards is our way of saying thank you to our community of Parents, Staff and Students.
It is a structured programme which consists of multiple components which aspire to help reduce the impact of annual tuition fees and help achieve the objective of making quality education accessible.
