تنطلق فعاليات إكسبو 2020 بهذا الأسبوع، وسيُعرض به أفضل ما تقدمه دول العالم في مجال التكنولوجيا والفنون والثقافة. وسيكون طلبتنا في قلب هذا الحدث الذي لا يتكرر، وذلك من خلال الزيارات المدرسية المخطط لها لضمان مقدرة متعلمينا على زيارة كامل الأجنحة الأربعة، والاستفادة من كل فرصة تعليمية مقدمة.
وتمثل استضافة دبي لإكسبو القيم الراسخة بقلب الهوية الوطنية الإماراتية. وبمدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية، نحن نعمل مع الطلبة لمساعدتهم على فهم هذه القيم والاعتزاز بها من خلال إطار هويتي، الذي يركز به المعلمون والطلبة بكل شهر على أهمية قيمة معينة.
وعلاوة على ذلك، فنتيجةً لهذا الكم الهائل من العمل الجاد والدؤوب، يحتفي إكسبو 2020 بالإبداع والابتكار، وستركز المواضيع المطروحة على اشتراك الطلبة بفعاليات الإقامة الدولية للفنون بالأسبوع المقبل.
كما يسعدنا عودة كل طلبتنا (باستثناء أصحاب الإعفاء المعتمد)، اعتبارًا من يوم الأحد، للدراسة حضوريًا بموقع المدرسة. فنحن متحمسون لتمكن متعلمينا من الاستمتاع الآن بكامل منهاجنا التعليمي الثري، بينما نحن مستمرون في وضع سلامة وصحة مجتمعنا على رأس أولوياتنا، وذلك من خلال الالتزام التام بكافة التدابير التنظيمية للصحة والسلامة.
Expo 2020 opens this weekend and is set to showcase the best the world has to offer in technology, arts and culture. Our students will be at the centre of this once in a lifetime experience with school visits planned to ensure that our learners are able to visit all 4 pavilions and benefit from every single educational opportunity.
Dubai’s hosting of Expo typifies the values at the heart of the UAE’s national identity. At GNS, we work with students to help them understand and take pride in these qualities through our HAWIATEE framework where, each month, teachers and students focus on a particular value. In October, the focus will be on the importance of Hard Work and I look forward to speaking to students about this important UAE characteristic throughout the month.
As well as being the result of a great deal of hard work, Expo 2020 celebrates innovation and creativity, themes which will be central to students’ engagement with our exciting Arts International Residential next week.
We are delighted that, from Sunday, all students (with the exception of those with approved exemption) will be back to school. We are thrilled that our learners are able to now enjoy our full and rich curriculum while we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our community by adhering strictly to all regulatory health and safety measures.

سلامة الطريق: ستظل سلامة وصحة مجتمعنا المدرسي على رأس أولوياتنا. ونرجو من أولياء أمورنا التكرم بدعمنا في حملة سلامة الطريق وصف السيارات بمدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية:
- أولياء أمور وأوصياء والكادر المدرسي بمدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية... يرجى القيادة دائمًا بتمهل وعناية.
- طلبة مدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية... ارتداء حزام الأمان دائمًا/ الترجل من المركبات على الرصيف – وعدم النزول من السيارة على الطريق نهائيًا/ عبور الطريق مع فرد بالغ أو عضو من الكادر المدرسي/ النظر بالاتجاهين قبل عبور الطريق.
التعلم الحضوري: وفقًا لتوجيهات هيئة المعرفة والتنمية البشرية بهذا العام الدراسي، يجب على كل الطلبة التعلم حضوريًا بالحرم المدرسي اعتبارًا من الأحد الموافق 3 أكتوبر. وسيُمنح الاستثناء الوحيد من التعلم الحضوري للطلبة الحاصلين على إعفاءات معتمدة. وعلى الطلبة الراغبين في الاستمرار بالتعلم عن بعد تقديم شهادة طبية مصدرة من قبل هيئة الصحة بدبي. وفي حال وجود حالات إصابة إيجابية بكوفيد 19، فمن الممكن أن تُحول المجموعات التعليمية إلى نظام التعلم عن بعد بشكل مؤقت خلال العام الدراسي.
شارات أولياء الأمور/ الأوصياء: يرجى تذكر ضرورة ارتداء أي ولي أمر أو مقدم للرعاية يأتي إلى المدرسة لشارة "أولياء الأمور" الصفراء بكل الأوقات. وفي حال عدم توفر الشارة لديكم، يرجى إحضار بطاقة الهوية الإماراتية لتقديمها لضرورة تعريف أنفسكم لأفراد الأمن المدرسي، وسيصدرون لكم ملصق "الزوار" الأخضر.
تأخر الوصول إلى المدرسة: نرجو من أولياء الأمور التأكد من وصول أطفالهم إلى المدرسة بالموعد المحدد حتى يتسنى لهم تحصيل أكبر قدر من العملية التعلمية، وذلك فيما بين الساعة 7:00ص والساعة 7:15ص للمرحلة الثانوية، وبين الساعة 7:15ص والساعة 7:30ص للمرحلة الأساسية.
الإبلاغ عن الغياب المدرسي: يرجى من أولياء الأمور الإبلاغ عن غياب أطفالهم بأسرع وقت ممكن من خلال إرسال رسالة إلى البريد الإلكتروني: attendance_gns@gemsedu.com، مع كتابة الاسم الكامل للطفل، وصفه، وسبب غيابه عن المدرسة.
موافقة أولياء الأمور على التقاط الصور وتصوير الفيديوهات: من المهم أن نكمل تحديثنا السنوي الخاص بسجلات موافقة أولياء الأمور بشأن استخدام الصور والفيديوهات المصورة بالمدرسة. ويرجى من أولياء الأمور الضغط على هذا الرابط وإكمال نموذج الموافقة على الصور والفيديوهات على الإنترنت. على أن يتم إكمال النموذج عن كل طالب بالمدرسة.
الأنشطة اللامنهجية: الأنشطة اللامنهجية بالمرحلة الثانوية – نُجري هذه الأنشطة بيوم الأربعاء من الساعة 3م وحتى الساعة 3:45م. ونقوم بهذه الأنشطة بشكل أسبوعي على مدار 4 أسابيع. كما أخطرنا كل أولياء الأمور الذين سجلوا أطفالهم بالأنشطة اللامنهجية بالفصل الدراسي الأول. ويرجى من أولياء الأمور التأكد من عدم مطالبة الطلبة بانتظار أشقائهم المشتركين بالأنشطة اللامنهجية حتى الساعة 3:45م، حيث إن نادي الأشقاء لا يعمل بعد الساعة 3م.
- لا يزال التسجيل مفتوحًا للأنشطة المنهجية بالمرحلة الإبتدائية وفي حال رغبتكم باشتراط طفلكم بالسنة الثالثة – السادسة في البرنامج الإثرائي، ما زال أمامكم المزيد من الوقت. ويرجى إرسال رسالة عبر البريد الإلكتروني إلى:s.leonard_gns@gemsedu.com

Road Safety: The health and safety of our school community must always remain our highest priority. We respectfully request the support of our parents with our GNS Car Park and Road Safety Campaign:
- GNS Parents, guardian and staff… Always drive slowly and carefully
- GNS Students… Always wear a seatbelt / Get out of vehicles on to the pavement – never step off in to the road / Cross the road with an adult or member of staff / Look both ways before crossing
Back to School: As per the KHDA directive for this academic year, all students must attend school onsite from Sunday 3rd October. The only exception to onsite learning will be for students with approved exemptions. Students who wish to continue with remote learning must provide a medical certificate issued by Dubai Health Authority. Teaching groups may temporarily switch to remote learning during the year if positive cases are detected.
Parent/Guardian Lanyards: Please remember that any parent or caregiver who comes to the school is required to wear the yellow “parent” lanyard at all times. If you do not have the lanyard, please have your Emirates ID to hand as you will be required to identify yourself to security, who will issue you with a green “visitor” sticker.
Late arrivals: Parents are requested to ensure their children arrive to school on time so that they may maximise their learning. This is between 7:00am and 7:15am for secondary students, and between 7:15am and 7:30am for primary students.
Reporting absences: Parents are requested to report the absence of their child as early as possible by sending an email to attendance_gns@gemsedu.com with the child’s full name, class and reason for the absence.
Photo and Video Consent: It is essential that we complete our annual update of our parental consent records for the use of photographs and videos taken in school. Parents are kindly requested to click here and complete our online Photo and Video Consent Form. The form must be completed for each child attending school.

Curriculum Highlight

Vice-Principal تستمر مدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية في استكشاف طرق إبداعية لإثراء تجارب طلبتنا التعليمية، وذلك مع استمرار معلمينا في تصميم الدروس التفاعلية والفرص المقدمة لأجل تعزيز المهارات الأساسية.
وقد استخدم طلبة المرحلة الأساسية الشاشات الخضراء لتعميق وتعزيز حصص القراءة والكتابة، من خلال أداء دور كبار مراسلي الأخبار بمدرستنا. كما نرحب أيضًا بالعضو الجديد المنضم للسنة الثالثة، هيكل العلوم واسمه/ سالم، الذي سيعمل على دعم الطلبة في حصص العلوم.
وتشهد المرحلة الثانوية حدثًا هامًا بالأجواء وهو اختيار الطالب المفوض بالسنة الحادية عشر وأعضاء المجلس الطلابي. حيث عمل الطلبة جاهدين لأجل تعزيز حملاتهم الدعائية، والحصول على فرصة لتنمية المهارات مثل: القيادة، والتواصل، والتنظيم، والخطابة العامة. وقاموا أيضًا بمشاركة أفكارهم مع المجتمع الطلابي للمرحلة الثانوية. فنحن لدينا طلبة رائعين حقًا بمدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية!
GNS continues to explore innovative ways to enrich our students learning experiences. With our teachers continuing to design engaging lessons and opportunities for enhancing key skills.
Primary students have been using the green screens to deepen their Literacy lessons, being GNS top investigative news reporters. We have also welcomed a new member to Year 3, our Science skeleton, named Salem, who is going to support students in their Science lessons.
Big news within Secondary is the excitement surrounding the Student Council and Year 11 Prefect selection. Students have worked hard to boost their campaign, having the opportunity to foster skills such as, leadership, communication, organisation and public speaking. Sharing their thoughts and ideas to the secondary student community.
All of our students at GNS, truly are amazing!

Head of FS/Primary Girls كما هو الحال دائمًا، حظي طلبة الروضة الأولى بأسبوع رائع ومثير. حيث انشغل طلبة الروضة الأولى بالتعلم عن الطعام الصحي، وصنعوا سلطات شهية بالفواكه وشوربة خضار! فأنا دائمًا منبهرة بالخيارات الصحية المتوفرة في علب الغداء الخاصة بالطلبة في كل يوم. كما انشغل طلبة الروضة الثانية في التخطيط لمنطقتهم المحلية، ووصف منازلهم، وإخبارنا عن غرفهم المفضلة – وكلهم يحبون غرف اللعب الخاصة بهم! وقد درسوا عن الفنان/ جاكسون بولوك، وتمتعوا بمزج ورش الألوان. ونرجو منكم التكرم بالاطلاع على العروض التعلمية الرائعة المعروضة في الممرات المدرسية، فنحن فخورون للغاية بأبنائكم المذهلين!
FS have had a wonderful this week as always. FS1 have been busy learning about healthy eating, they have made delicious fruit salad and vegetable soup! I am always so impressed with the healthy choices in our children’s lunchboxes each day. FS2 have been busy mapping their local area, describing their houses and telling us their favourite room- they all love their playroom! They have studied the artist Jackson Pollock and had great fun mixing and splashing the paint. Please take time to stop and enjoy our wonderful learning displays along the corridors, we are so proud of your incredible children!

بهذا الأسبوع في المرحلة الأساسية، أبدعنا في كتابتنا وتعلمنا عن إعادة التدوير في الإمارات، وحضرنا جلسة حول إكسبو 2020. حيث قدم كل طالب عمل كتابي ملهم ومؤثر وذي صلة بنصوص الصف الدراسي. ونحن فخورون بالطرق الإبداعية التي أشرك معلمونا الطلبة من خلالها في الكتابة، ونحن نحثكم على التحدث مع أبناءكم وبناتكم عن مجريات حصص اللغة الإنجليزية. وسنبدأ بالأسبوع المقبل في رحلاتنا المدرسية إلى إكسبو 2020، إلى جانب الاستمرار في حملتنا لتعزيز إعادة التدوير من خلال شراكتنا مع Simply Bottles.
This week in Primary we innovated our writing, learned about recycling in the UAE and joined an assembly about EXPO 2020. Each student is producing a piece of writing that is inspired, influenced and connected to their class text. We are very proud of the innovative ways our teachers have engaged students with writing and encourage you to speak to your son and daughter about their English lessons.
Next month we will start our school trips to EXPO 2020 and continue our campaign to promote recycling through our partnership with Simply Bottles.

لقد عمل طلبة المرحلة الثانوية بجد ودأب لمرة أخرى بهذا الأسبوع، على سبيل المثال: درس بعض من طلبتنا خلال حصص اللغة الإنجليزية عن الأدب الكلاسيكي، مع التركيز على أدوات المعرفة، وأسماء الإشارة، والكلمات الدالة على الكمية، والكلمات والمعاني، واختبارات الأسماء. وبحصص اللغة الإسبانية، تعلم الطلبة كيفية التحدث عن جدولهم الأسبوعي. وتشهد المرحلة الثانوية حدثًا هامًا بالأجواء وهو اختيار الطالب المفوض بالسنة الحادية عشر وأعضاء المجلس الطلابي. وعقد قسم الدراسات الإنسانية لقاءات عمل لتناول الغداء مع مجموعات طلابية مشتركة في Scope Project 2021 – آراء وأفعال الطلبة مقابل التغير المناخي. وهناك خمسة مشاريع مختلفة يعمل عليها الطلبة من الرسم والكتابة والتسويق وفريق التفويض. وآخر موعد هو 14 أكتوبر 2021.

Secondary students have been working hard again this week for example in English some of our students have been studying about Classic Literature with a focus on articles, demonstratives, quantifiers, words and meaning and a nouns quiz. In Spanish, students have been learning how to talk about their weekly schedule. Big news in Secondary is the excitement surrounding the Student Council and Year 11 Prefect selection. Humanities are having working lunch meetings with groups of students taking part in the Scope Project 2021 – Students Voices and Actions Against Climate Change. There are five different projects they are working on from painting, writing, marketing and delegation team. The final date is 14th October 2021.

Post 16 Focus – The Student Council
بهذا الأسبوع، بدأنا في عملية اختيار أعضاء المجلس الطلابي. ويتألف هذا المجلس من مجموعة من الطلاب الذين يعملون معًا بمجموعات مختلفة لأجل مساعدة المدرسة على النمو والتطور من أجلنا جميعًا. ويعد كل من قائد البنين/ قائدة البنات، ونائب قائد البنين/ نائب قائدة البنات، والطالب المفوض، واللجنة الطلابية أعضاء بهذه المجموعة الهامة. وقد تلقينا طلبات تقديم عديدة من مختلف الطلبة، الذين قمنا بعد ذلك بإجراء مقابلة معهم لتحديد ملائمتهم للأدوار من عدمها. وفي أعقاب ذلك، بدأ الطلبة في حملاتهم الدعائية، حيث استعان كل منهم باستراتيجية مختلفة لتشجيع الطلبة على التصويت لصالحهم. حيث قام بعض الطلبة بتصميم ملصقات رائعة تم عرضها على حوائط الممرات. والبعض الآخر تجولوا بصفوف مختلفة محاولةً منهم لإقناع زملائهم بكونهم الخيار الأمثل، وبأنهم على مقدرة بالمساهمة في تطور المدرسة. كما قامت طالبة مرشحة بصنع ملصقات ووضعتها على بعض الأشياء مثل: الكمامات وأغلفة الهواتف. وأتى كل منافس بأفكار إبداعية مبتكرة لحملته الدعائية، وقد ألهمتنا رؤية دأب ومثابرة طلبتنا بالعمل. ونحن فخورون بكل مرشحينا ونتمنى لهم وافر الحظ والتوفيق!
وسنعلن عن النتائج بالأسبوع المقبل!
This week, we have begun the selection process for the student council. The student council consists of a group of students who work together in various groups to help the school grow and improve for everyone. The Head Girl/Boy, Deputy Head Girl/ Boy, Assistant Head Girl/Boy, Prefect, and Student Committee are all members of this important group. We received numerous applications from different students, which we then interviewed to determine whether or not they are suitable for the role. Following that, the students began campaigning, each using a different strategy to urge students to vote for them. Some students designed wonderful posters, which are exhibited on the corridor walls. Others have gone around to different classes, attempting to convince them that they are the superior option and that they can help the school grow. One particular girl created stickers and placed them visibly on things such as masks and phone covers. Each contender has come up with creative campaign ideas, and it's inspiring to see how diligently they've worked. We are proud of each of the candidates and wish them all the best!
Results will be announced next week!

Assistant Principal(Ministry of Education Subjects) كما وعدناكم سنظل نسعى للبحث عن الأفضل في سبيل جعل اللغة العربية لغة مرحة وحيّة.
ولأن عالمنا مليء بالتكنولوجيا التي يعشقها الأطفال، استخدمنا عدة منصات رقميّة تفاعليّة لجذب انتباه الطلبة للغتهم منها منصة "أقرأ بالعربيّة" " برافو -برافو" للمرحلة الابتدائيّة ومنصة " كم كلمة" للمرحلة الثانوية. منصة "أقرأ بالعربية" هي منصة متخصصة تجمع بين الكتب والنصوص المرئية والألعاب التعليميّة، والتي تعزز الذكاءات المختلفة وتجعل التعلم أكثر إمتاعاً وهدفها الارتقاء بمهارة القراءة وتعزيز الطلاقة اللغوية.
أما فيما يتعلق بمنصة برافو-برافو فهي من أقوى المنصات التي تجعل من ممارسة المهارات المختلفة كالقواعد والإملاء ممتعة، كما أنها تسمح للأهل بالاطلاع على تقدم أبنائهم ومعرفة نقاط قوتهم ومواطن التطور التي يحتاجونها.
وتوفر " منصة كم كلمة " لطلبتنا الأعزاء مئات من النصوص مرفقة بأسئلة للتحليل والنقد الفكري" وسيعقد قسم المواد الوزارية ورشات عمل خاصة لأولياء الأمور حول كل منصة على حدا بالتعاون مع المسؤولين في المنصة لإتاحة الفرصة لأولياء الأمور لطرح استفساراتهم والإلمام بما يتطلبه استخدام المنصة مع أبنائهم.
We continue to strive for the best ways to make Arabic fun and dynamic as a subject.
Since our world is full of technology, which our children love, we have used several interactive digital platforms to attract our students' interest to their language. These include, “I Read Arabic” and “Bravo! Bravo!” for Primary and the platform “Kam Kalimeh” for Secondary. “I Read Arabic” is a specialized platform that combines books, visual texts, and educational games to develop multiple intelligences and make learning more enjoyable. It aims to improve reading skills and enhance language fluency.
“Bravo! Bravo!” is an excellent platform that helps students practice different skills, such as dictation and grammar in a fun way. It also allows parents to see their children's progress and learn about their strengths and the areas that still need practice.
The "Kam Kalimeh" platform provides our students with hundreds of texts and stories, followed by critical thinking questions for analysis and intellectual criticism.
The MOE Department will hold separate, special workshops for parents on each platform in collaboration with the platform spokespeople to allow parents to ask their questions and understand how to use the platform with their children.

بهذا العام في مدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية، سنطلق برنامج 101 GNS Mentors.
وندعوكم باعتباركم جزءًا من مجتمعنا الموقر للتكرم بمشاركتكم الكريمة بمعرفتكم وشغفكم وخبراتكم معنا. فنحن نرغب في أن يدرك طلبتنا كيفية ارتباط تعلمهم بالعالم الواقعي والخبرات الحياتية. كما نفخر بوجود أكثر المتعلمين روعةً وحبًا للتعلم والاستطلاع بمدرستنا، حيث إنهم سيرغبون في طرح الأسئلة عليكم، فيما يتعلق بمهنكم ومجالات خبراتكم.

هل أنت رائد للأعمال أو مدير تنفيذي؟ سيرغب طلبة السنة السادسة في التحدث إليكم عن كيفية إنشاء شركاتهم الخاصة وعن دعم المجتمع.
هل أنت مصمم أو فنان أو موسيقي؟ سيرغب طلبتنا في الحصول على نصائحكم ورؤياكم وأفكاركم الخاصة بالمشاريع الفنية أو مهام التصميم.
لذا نرجو منكم التكرم بإعطائنا 30 دقيقة من وقتكم للتحدث إلى طلبتنا. فهذه الدقائق ستؤثر وتثري تعلم طلبتنا.

This year at GNS we are launching a programme called 101 GNS Mentors
We are inviting you as part of our valued GNS community to generously share your knowledge, passions and experience with us. We want our students to see how their learning connects to the real world and life experiences. We proudly have the most incredible and curious learners who would love to ask you questions about your profession and areas of expertise.
Are you an architect, an engineer or an interior designer? Year 3 would love your help when they design their own city to rise out of the desert sands.
Are you an entrepreneur or CEO? Year 6 would love to talk to you about how to set up their own companies and support the community.
Are you a designer, artist or musician? Our students would love to get your top tips, insights and ideas into their art projects or design tasks.
We kindly would ask for 30 minutes of your time to talk to our students. Those 30 invaluable minutes would truly amplify the learning for our students.

Jewels of Kindness
لقد تم في العام الدراسي الماضي إطلاق برنامج "نجوم جيمس في حسن معاملة الآخرين"، الذي يهدف إلى الإشادة بالطلبة الذين يتحلون بسلوكيات تمثل قيم الاحترام والإحسان للآخرين. كما تكمن أهمية هذا البرنامج في التأكيد على ضرورة تعليم هذه القيم للطلبة ليصبحوا مواطنين عالميين صالحين.
At the end of last year, we launched the GEMS Jewels of Kindness program which seeks to exemplify students exhibiting core values including compassion, kindness, respect, helpfulness and empathy.
The aim of this program is to emphasize the importance of values education to help our children become better world citizens.

و هو برنامج يتكون من عناصر عدة تطمح إلى المساعدة في الحد من تأثير الرسوم الدراسية السنوية و المساعدة في تحقيق هدف جعل التعليم الجيد متاحًا.
GEMS Rewards is our way of saying thank you to our community of Parents, Staff and Students.
It is a structured programme which consists of multiple components which aspire to help reduce the impact of annual tuition fees and help achieve the objective of making quality education accessible.
