يطيب لنا أن نعود إلى المدرسة بعد عطلة طويلة ونستأنف الأنشطة الدراسية وإجراءات التعلم الروتينية بكل همة وعزيمة. فقد استُهل هذا الأسبوع بالاستفسارات التي طرحها الطلبة للتعرف إلى حيثيات الإجابة عن الأسئلة ذات النهايات المفتوحة، فضلاً عن استكمال تقييمات نهاية العام في هذا الفصل الدراسي. ونسأل المولى عز وجل أن يوفق طلبة السنة 12 الذين يخضعون للاختبارات الرسمية والتي بدأت في مطلع هذا الأسبوع. ونتوجه لطلبتنا الأعزاء بالقول أن استمروا على ما أنتم عليه وستحققون النجاحات المبهرة والإنجازات المميزة.
ونحن على يقين تام بأن أداء طلبتنا الأكاديمي سيرقى إلى توقعاتنا وتطلعاتنا إذ أننا نبذل ما في وسعنا لتوفير التحدي المتمثل في مناهجنا ضمن بيئة تواكب التعليم البريطاني في عراقته وتتماشى مع الثقافة الإماراتية في أصالتها. ومن هذا المنطلق، لا بد من التأكيد على ضرورة الالتزام بمعايير الحضور الجيد إلى المدرسة إذ أنه يُعد اللبنة الأساسية لتحقيق النجاح الأكاديمي الذي يساعد في تجاوز المراحل التعليمية بسلاسة بالغة.
وتماشياً مع توجيهات هيئة المعرفة والتنمية البشرية الخاصة بالحضور الجيد والذي يتمثل بتحقيق نسبة 94٪ من معدل الحضور، أي ما لا يزيد عن 6 أيام من الغياب على مدار العام بأكمله، فقد احتفت المدرسة هذا الأسبوع بالطلبة الذين حرصوا جل الحرص على استيفاء معايير الحضور الاستثنائي بنسبة 100% خلال شهر رمضان ونتطلع إلى تكريم المزيد من الطلبة ممن حققوا نسب حضور عالية في الفصل الدراسي الثالث.
ومن جانب آخر، فإنه يسعدنا أن نسلط الضوء على العلاقة المتجذرة بين دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة والمملكة المتحدة، فضلاً عن إبراز القيم المشتركة التي يتمتع بها المجتمعان من خلال احتفائنا الشهر المقبل باليوبيل البلاتيني لاعتلاء الملكة إليزابيث عرش البلاد، والذي سيمثل بدوره فرصة مثالية لتعزيز فهم الأحداث المفصلية في تاريخ المملكة بشكل أعمق. وفي إطار عملنا الدؤوب في إجراء التحسينات اللازمة على المنظومة التعليمية في مدارسنا، فإننا نتطلع لاستكمال أول فحص إشرافي للمدارس التي تعتمد المناهج البريطانية في الخارج (BSO) يوم الاثنين الموافق 30 مايو. يترأس الفحص الإشرافي على المدارس البريطانية نخبة من خبراء تربويين بريطانيين، حيث تكمن أهميته هذا الفحص بالملاحظات والتغذية الراجعة التي يوفرها الخبراء للمدارس في سعيهم للتحسين والتغيير والتطوير.
It’s wonderful to be back to school and learning routines this week with our students starting their enquiries to answer their big questions and complete their end-of-year assessments this term. Well done to our Year 12 students who have now begun their AS Level examinations this week and good luck to our Year 11 students who have their first IGCSE examinations on Monday.
We have the highest expectations of all of our students as we work hard to provide the challenge of our curriculum in an environment that promotes the high standards of British education and the richness of Emirati culture. As such, consistent attendance at school is so important in providing the foundation of academic success and preparing learners for the next stage of their education. The KHDA defines good attendance as 94% which equates to no more than 6 days of absence from school over the course of the whole year. We have celebrated this week students who maintained 100% attendance during Ramadan and look forward to rewarding our students with the highest attendance in Term 3.
We are excited that, as a school community, we will be shining the light on the unique relationship that exists between the UAE and the UK and the shared values that the two societies enjoy. The Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth next month will provide us with the perfect opportunity to develop our understanding of this further. As part of our ongoing journey of school improvement we look forward to completing our first British Schools Overseas (BSO) Inspection on Monday 30th May. The inspection will provide us as a team with important feedback form British educational experts as we drive our school development.

فحص إشرافي للمدارس التي تعتمد المناهج البريطانية: من المقرر إجراء أول فحص إشرافي للمدارس التي تعتمد المناهج البريطانية في الخارج (BSO) يوم الاثنين الموافق 30 مايو. يترأس الفحص الإشرافي على المدارس البريطانية نخبة من خبراء تربويين بريطانيين، حيث تكمن أهميته هذا الفحص بالملاحظات والتغذية الراجعة التي يوفرها الخبراء للمدارس في سعيهم للتحسين والتغيير والتطوير.
الحضور: تماشياً مع توجيهات هيئة المعرفة والتنمية البشرية الخاصة بالحضور الجيد فإنه يتمثل بتحقيق نسبة 94٪ من معدل الحضور، أي ما لا يزيد عن 6 أيام من الغياب على مدار العام بأكمله.
أسبوع التوعية بالصحة النفسية: سجل مستشارو المدرسة مشاركة فاعلة في الإذاعة المدرسية الخاصة بطلبة المرحلة التأسيسية الأولى ( الصفين الأول والثاني ابتدائي)، حيث تطرقوا إلى أهمية التأمل الواعي ليتبعه بعد ذلك حديث امتد لمدة أربع دقائق عن كيفية تطبيق التخيل والتنفس الموجه، بغرض مساعدة الطلبة على رفع مستوى التوعية والإدراك بسلامة الصحة النفسية . ومن المقرر أن يتناول مستشارو المدرسة آليات تطوير استراتيجيات الدراسة التي يعتمدها طلبة المرحلة الثانوية والحرص على تلبية احتياجاتهم الصحية على النحو الصحيح.
اختبارات السنة 11-13 : وهي جارية الآن على قدم وساق. لذا، من الضروري أن يحصل الطالب على قسط وافر من النوم وتبني العادات الغذائية الصحية إلى المواظبة على إجراء المراجعة لتعزيز مستويات التركيز. واظبوا على ما أنتم عليه وأحسنتم صنعاً. يمكن الرجوع إلى القسم المخصص للمرحلة الثانوية في النشرة الإخبارية الأسبوعية للاطلاع على الجدول الزمني لاختبارات IGCSE و IAL جنبًا إلى جنب مع جدول حصص التقوية التي ستقام في نهاية هذا الأسبوع
اختبارات البرنامج الدولي لتقييم الطلبة: لقد جرى توفير برامج تحضيرية في كل من مواد الرياضيات والعلوم واللغة والإنجليزية لـ 53 من طلبة المراحل 9-13 والذين هم بصدد الخضوع لاختبارات البرنامج الدولي لتقييم الطلبة في 23 من الشهر الجاري. ومن المقرر أن يتم توفير المزيد من البرامج التحضيرية لمواد الرياضيات والعلوم واللغة والإنجليزية خلال الأسبوع القادم ليتمكن الطلبة من الخضوع إلى الاختبارات المذكورة وهم على أهبة الاستعداد لتحقيق أفضل النتائج.
أسبوع اللغة العربية: سيبدأ أسبوع اللغة العربية في 23 مايو 2022. وسيبدأ الأسبوع بجلسة افتتاحية بقيادة الدكتورة ريم القرق ، والتي ستعلن مع طلاب الصفوف 7-9 عن إطلاق أنشطة أسبوع اللغة العربية.
تبرعات شهر الخير: خالص شكرنا وتقديرنا لدعمكم وتبرعكم السخي خلال حملتنا في شهر رمضان المبارك، ويسعدنا اعلامكم بأننا قمنا بتسليم هذه التبرعات لجمعية الهلال الأحمر الإماراتي، بارك الله فيكم ، جعل الله أعمالكم في ميزان حسناتكم.
الأنشطة اللامنهجية: شهد هذا الأسبوع عودة برنامج الأنشطة اللامنهجية مع 30 ناديًا تنوعت أنشطتهم من الاستعداد لاختبارات المرحلة الابتدائية وصولاً إلى الأنشطة الفنية والرياضية. سيتم إرسال رابط ثانٍ للاشتراك بالأنشطة اللامنهجية للفصل الدراسي الثالث خلال الأسبوع المقبل للطلبة الذين تعذر عليهم استكمال التسجيل، فسارعوا بحجز أماكنكم.
سلامة الطريق: نحن ندرك مدى صعوبة حركة المرور حول المدرسة في توصيل الطلبة واصطحابهم ولكن نرجو من أولياء الأمور الكرام عدم إيقاف مركباتهم على الطريق الرئيسي ليتمكن الطلاب من الخروج من المدرسة والعبور إليها إذ أن ذلك قد ينطوي على الكثير من المخاطر
British Schools Overseas Inspection: As part of our ongoing journey of school improvement we look forward to completing our first British Schools Overseas (BSO) Inspection on Monday 30th May. The inspection will provide us as a team with important feedback form British educational experts as we drive our school development.
Attendance: Consistent attendance at school provides the foundation of academic success. The KHDA defines good attendance as 94%. This equates to no more than 6 days of absence from school over the course of the whole year
Mental Health Awareness Week: The school counsellors have taken part in the KS1 and KS2 assembly giving a short talk about mindfulness followed by 4 minutes of guided breathing and reflection. This is to support students in being aware of their mental health and how to develop it. For secondary students, counsellors will discuss strategies to optimise their studying, whilst maintaining their mental health needs.
Y11-13 Exams: Year 11-13 exams are now well underway. It’s important during this time and in addition to revision that students maintain healthy sleep and eating habits to support full concentration during examinations. Keep going and well done so far! The IGCSE and IAL exam timetable along with this weekend’s intervention sessions can be found in the secondary section of the newsletter.
PISA Assessments: Preparation sessions in Math, Science and English were offered this week for 53 GNS students, Years 9 – 13, who will be sitting for the external PISA exam on 23nd May . Students will have the opportunity to further prepare next week, with additional sessions in Math, Science and English.
Arabic Week: The Arabic Language Week commences on the 23rd of May 2022. The week will start with an opening session led by Dr. Reem Al Gurg, who, along with year 7-9 students, will announce the launch of the Arabic Language Week activities.
Ramadan Donations: We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to you for contributing to the donation campaigns during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The donations were delivered to the Emirates Red Crescent, who in turn will hand it over to those who need it the most . May Allah make it in the balance of your good deeds.
ECAs: ECAs have launched this week with 30 clubs on offer, ranging from academic, to sports, arts, etc. For parents who have missed the first opportunity to sign up, the second sign up link for Term 3 ECA’s will be sent out next week so watch this space to get involved!
Road Safety: We appreciate how challenging the traffic can be around the school at drop-off and collection times, but respectfully ask parents to not stop your vehicles on the main road to allow your children to exit and cross to school as this is highly dangerous.

Vice-Principal غمرتنا سعادة عارمة لعودة طلبتنا إلى مقاعد الدراسة بعد عطلة عيد الفطر المميزة، وسررنا لاستئناف المدرسة لمقرر الأنشطة اللامنهجية التي تتيح بدورها للطلبة الانضمام لمختلف الأندية الرياضية والترفيهية. تعزز الأنشطة اللامنهجية الأداء الأكاديمي للطالب وتساهم بشكل ملحوظ في توسيع مدارك الطلبة وآفاقهم فضلاً عن صقل مهاراتهم الأكاديمية والاجتماعية والبدنية. وقد شهدنا هذا الأسبوع إطلاق نادي المناظرة الذي يُعنى بحث الطلبة على خوض نقاشات في شتى الموضوعات ودحض الحجج أو مناصرتها إلى جانب تكوين الأفكار حيال الموضوعات المطروحة للنقاش، الأمر الذي يؤدي إلى تنمية مهارات الفصاحة وبلاغة الخطاب. ومن ضمن الأندية المدرجة في الأنشطة اللامنهجية نادي ألعاب التركيب الذي تكمن أهميته في تطوير الفكر المعرفي والإبداعي على حد سواء. وكذلك نادي القرآن الكريم الذي يعزز الثقة في نفوس الطلبة لترتيل آيات الذكر الحكيم وتجويدها، فضلاً عن تنمية مهارات التواصل وإجادة اللغة العربية.
يتمثل الهدف الأبرز من هذه الأنشطة في مساعدة الطلبة على استكشاف مجالات الاهتمام المختلفة والتعرف إلى مواطن القوة والضعف لديهم، إلى جانب تعزيز الثقة بالنفس وتطوير مهارات القيادة ومهارات العمل الجماعي والتفيكر النقدي بغرض توظيف هذه المهارات في حياتهم اليومية والعلمية والمهنية وتحقيق النجاحات الباهرة والإنجازات الاستثنائية.
ختاماً، فإن للأنشطة اللامنهجية فوائد أكثر من أن تحصى وأبلج من أن تخفى، فلنحرص على إشراك أبنائنا وبناتنا الطلبة في هذه الأنشطة لنضمن بناء شخصية فاعلة في المجتمع.
It was lovely to welcome back our students after a very special one week for Eid. We were also excited to welcome back our ECA’s (Extra-curricular activities) allowing students to take part in variety of clubs. Extra-curricular activities enhance the academic curriculum, allowing for further challenge and an opportunity for students to push their own boundaries and excel at an activity or skill.
To highlight some of these clubs, this week we saw the launch of Debating Club, which encourages students to engage with a broad range of topics creating arguments for and against, forming their own opinions and develop public speaking. Lego Club building complex structures, refreshing cognitive thinking as well as creativity. Quran reading, which develops confidence in reciting and memorising Sourah’s which enhances communication skills and Arabic language.
These activities and others allow our students opportunities to further explore different areas of interest, increase self-confidence, build leadership skills, collaboration, Team building, develop critical thinking which can then can be transferred to the classroom and in life skills.
The benefits of extracurricular activities are exponential— all while having fun!

شهد هذا الأسبوع انطلاق ورش العمل المخصصة لأولياء الأمور والتي تتناول حيثيات التعلم لدى الأطفال، وقد سجلت كل من السيدة كلوي والسيدة لورين مشاركة فاعلة بطرحهما لأفكار نيرة حول كيفية تعليم الأطفال من خلال اللعب. وسنتناول الأسبوع المقبل سبل تعليم الأطفال وتطوير حيثيات التعلم في المنزل بإسهاب. كما سنتطرق إلى كيفية استخدام علبة من المعكرونة والطماطم وكرسي وبعض الصناديق الفارغة لصنع بيئة تعليمية جاذبة للتعلم من خلال الأنشطة الترفيهية والتفاعلية. وكما هو الحال دوماً، نتطلع للقائكم في ورشة العمل القادمة والمزمع انعقادها يوم الأربعاء الموافق 18 مايو في تمام الساعة 10:30 صباحًا.
واخيراً لا يسعنا سوى أن نتمنى لكم قضاء عطلة أسبوعية ممتعة مع العائلة والأصدقاء.
We have started our Parent Workshops this week with a focus on ‘How children learn?’ Miss Chloe and Miss Lauren shared some fantastic ideas and insights into how children learn through play. Next week we will talk more about how your child learns and how you can develop their learning at home. We will show you how you can use a simple packet of pasta, tomatoes, a chair and some empty boxes to create learning through play activities. كم كان رائعاً اللقاء بأولياء الأمور أثناء الملتقى الصباحي هذا الأسبوع، حيث تناول فريق الإدارة العليا أبرز أحداث الفصل الدراسي الثالث والبيانات الخاصة بمختلف المراحل التعليمية. وعليه، فإننا نحيطكم علماً بأنه يمكنكم التواصل مع فريق الإدارة العليا الذي يتألف من السيدة أنيسة والسيدة جيس والسيد غاريث لطرح التساؤلات والاستفسارات في حال تعذر عليكم الحضور إلى الملتقى الصباحي الفائت.
كما احتفت المدرسة بالطلبة الذين حرصوا على تحقيق إنجاز بارز لهذا الفصل الدراسي ألا وهو التزامهم بمعايير الحضور الاستثنائي بنسبة 100% وسنواصل تكريم الطلبة الذي يحرصون جل الحرص على استيفاء معايير الحضور الاستثنائي بنسبة 100% لشهري مايو ويونيو.
It was wonderful to meet with parents during our Parent Coffee Morning this week. The leadership team shared key highlights from Term 3 and key information for specific year groups. If you were unable to attend this event or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Year Group Leaders; Ms Anisa, Ms Jess or Mr Gareth.
Another key highlight of the week has been the celebration of students who achieved a 100% attendance during Ramadan. Moving into the new month of May we will continue to celebrate students who secure full attendance and will hold another special event in June for students who attend school each day through the month of May!

We are excited to announce that Unifrog is running an interactive virtual Career Fair on Tuesday, 17th May. Students will have the chance to hear from experts during live panel sessions, as well as visit university booths and chat one-on-one with university admissions tutors.
Attending a University career fair is the ideal opportunity for you to start making choices. It is also an opportunity to get a better idea of what university admissions officers are looking for – and a chance to start impressing them by showing you have the right qualities.

بعد عطلة طويلة ومريحة عدنا في قسم اللغة العربية لاستئناف خططنا في الدعم الصباحي للطلبة والتي تهدف إلى تمكينهم من لغتهم الأم بطريقة صحيحة وبمنهجية مدروسة وتعزيز المهارات الأساسية الأربع، في بيئة تعليمية مناسبة لمساعدة الطلبة في مختلف مستوياتهم، حيث قامت معلمات اللغة العربية في المرحلة الابتدائية بوضع كراسات تتلاءم مع احتياجات الطلبة.
وقد أظهر طلبتنا اهتماماً ومتابعة لمعلماتهم في جو من المتعة وخاصة بأن الفترة الصباحية تعتبر من أفضل الأوقات وأكثرها صفاءً.
كما يوفِّرُ قسم اللُّغة العربيّة في المرحلة الثانوية، بيئة تعليميّة شاملة لمساعدة الطلبة في جميع مستويات رحلتهم التعليميّة لاسيّما حينما يتعلَّق الموضوع بالاختبارات، وعليه فنحن نقدُّم حصص دعم صباحيّة للطلبة الذين اختاروا تقديم اختبارات الـ GCSE الخاصة باللُّغة العربيّة وذلك أيام الخميس من كل أسبوع، خلال هذه الحصص يتدرَّب الطلبة على كيفية أداء الاختبارات، الاطلاع على نماذج اختبارات مماثلة بالإضافة إلى الإجابة عن كافة تساؤلاتهم حول اختبارات الشهادة البريطانية الخاصة باللغة العربيّة.
After a long and a relaxing vacation, we have resumed our work in establishing plans to help supporting students during the morning periods. These plans aim at enabling pupils to speak standard Arabic language as well as enhancing the four basic skills of learning. In addition, there is the the interactive educational environment the Arabic teachers are keen to maintain, irrespective of the year groups and the academic levels. Our teachers adopt a holistic approach that entails providing students with individual plans that meet their needs.
This brings us on the enthusiasm and the eagerness our students demonstrate in a light-hearted educational atmosphere that takes place in the morning time, on the grounds that morning periods are by far the most effective time to master new skills.
The Arabic Department of the secondary level also provides a comprehensive learning approach to help students overcome obstacles and clear hurdles where necessary. It is for this this reason, we are keen to provide morning support classes for students who are to perform GCSE Arabic exams, on Thursdays of every week. Pupils will be trained on how to perform exams, practice similar exam models, and successfully attempt all answers.

تعرف طلبة المرحلة التأسيسية إلى ألعاب جماعية تتسم بتنافسيتها، واشتملت على لعبة قلب الصحون المخروطية القبة أو تحويلها لشكل صحون مسطحة ولعبة سمك القرش العالق في الوحل لتطوير الوعي المكاني ومهارات المراوغة.
وبدأ طلبة المرحلة الابتدائية في ممارسة وحدة العمل الخاصة بتمارين الجمباز استعداداً لعرض الجمباز الذي سيقام في نهاية الفصل الدراسي.
واستهل طلبة المرحلة الثانوية محاور التربية البدنية بألعاب كرة السلة ورياضة البيسبول استعداداً للمسابقات المزمع انعقادها في الفترة القادمة.
In the foundation phase, students have been introduced to more competitive team games. These include domes and dishes, sharky, sharky and stuck in the mud to develop spatial awareness and evasion skills as students start to prepare for the next academic year.
In the primary phase, students have started their gymnastics unit of work as they prepare for the end of term gymnastics display and class competitions.
In the secondary phase, students have started their new topics which include basketball and rounders as they prepare for sports fixtures taking place his term.

ECA’s
This week saw the return of our ECA programme with a tremendous 30 clubs taking place ranging from primary assessment preparation club to art/mindfulness and sporting clubs such as rounders, basketball and volleyball. عمل طلبتنا على بناء مهارة تقدير الذات حيث شاركوا في أنشطة تهدف إلى تطوير مهارات التواصل وتحثهم على التفاعل مع أقرانهم.
احتوت الأنشطة بشكل رئيسي على حث الطلبة على إيجاد المتضادات للكلمات المعلقة على ظهر أقرانهم. وإلى جانب قضاء طلبة السنة الثانية لأمتع الأوقات خلال هذا النشاط فقد أتاح لهم فرصة التفاعل مع بعضهم البعض والاستماع إلى زملائهم في الفصل عند قراءة الكلمات والعمل ضمن ثنائيات للبحث عن الإجابات.
استمر هذا النشاط في ثلاث جولات، واشتدت المنافسة بين الطلبة للإجابة عن الأسئلة المطروحة. وقد تملكنا الفخر الشديد لرؤيتهم يتهافتون للوصول إلى المعرفة .
Social Skills
As our students develop their self-esteem through our Social Skills sessions this week, they took part in games that developed their communication skills and encouraged them to engage with their peers.
Each student had one word stuck to their back and they all had to find the opposite of their word on another student. The game Opposites Attract was not only great fun for Year 2 students but gave them the opportunity to engage with each other, raise their voice and be heard when reading each other's words, and organizing themselves in pairs.
Three rounds in and the students were scattering around and calling out words as they rushed to finish first. We are so proud to watch them blossom!

اليوم العالمي للتوعية بمرض الثلاسيميا
يحتفي العالم بالمصابين بمرض الثلاسيميا في الثامن من مايو من كل عام. ويتمحور احتفاء هذا العام حول نشر التوعية بهذا المرض الذي ينتقل عن طريق الدم، فضلاً عن كيفية العناية بالمصابين بمرض التلاسيميا ورعايتهم على أمثل وجه. تتضاعف نسبة الإصابة بمرض الثلاسيميا بشكل ملحوظ بين أفراد المجتمع الإماراتي، فقد سُجلت في الآونة الآخيرة إصابة ما لا يقل عن 10 ٪ من سكان الدولة بمرض الثلاسيميا الصغرى (أي أن يكون الفرد حاملاً لصفة الثلاسيميا ولكنه غير مصاب بها)
يُعرف الثلاسيميا (فقر الدم) بكونه مرض وراثي في الدم، ويؤثر على التركيب الطبيعي للهيموجلوبين (الذي ينقل الأوكسجين ويعطي للدم لونه الأحمر)
تختلف شدة مرض الثلاسيميا من الناحية السريرية بشكل كبير، إذ تتراوح بين الأشكال البسيطة غير المصحوبة بأعراض إلى الأنواع الشديدة أو حتى المميتة.
وقد لوحظ في الآونة الأخيرة شيوع ثلاسيميا بيتا بين سكان دولة الإمارات المتحدة، والذي ينطوي على وجود تشوه في أحد الجينين المسؤولين عن إنتاج البيتا، فيكون الشخص حامل لصفة تلاسيميا بيتا دون أن تظهر عليه أي أعراض، ولكن يتضاعف خطر إنجاب طفل مصاب بمرض الثلاسيميا بنسبة 25% في حال اقتران الفرد بشريك حامل لصفة ثلاسيميا بيتا.
تشمل الأعراض على سبيل المثال لا الحصر، والتي يجب أخذها بعين الاعتبار: التعب والشحوب وضيق التنفس والخفقان (زيادة معدل ضربات القلب) وفقر الدم الناجم عن نقص الحديد وتأخر في النمو.
ونظراً لكون قرابة الدم هي العامل الرئيسي لانتشار المرض، فقد بات إلزامياً إجراء فحص الثلاسيميا قبل الزواج في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.
لذا، فإننا سنسعى هذا العام جاهدين لنشر الوعي والحث على إجراء الفحص المبكر للسيطرة على مضاعفات المرض وتقليص عدد الحالات الآخذ في الازدياد.
برنامج السباحة
يسر فريق التربية البدنية إعلان استئناف أنشطة السباحة خلال الأسبوع المقبل. لذا، يرجى التأكد من إحضار الطلبة لقبعات السباحة الخاصة بهم كي يتمكنوا من المشاركة في دروس بشكل فاعل. تتوفر قبعات السباحة لدى متجر تريد المزود الموحد لزي المدارس. أو يمكن للطالب، عوضاً عن ذلك، أن يرتدي أي قبعة خاصة بنشاط السباحة للفترة المتبقية من هذا العام الدراسي.
World Thalassemia Awareness Day- Note from Dr. Sarah:
On the 8th May of every year, the world celebrates those affected by Thalassemia. This year is all about sharing, caring and raising awareness about this blood-borne disease, that affects a major proportion in our community. At least 10.00% of UAE population are thalassemia minor (carry the defected gene but without showing symptoms)
Thalassemia (anemia) is an inherited, genetic, blood disease, that affects the normal synthesis of hemoglobin (the oxygen carrying molecule in our blood).
Severity varies from no symptoms at all, to life- threatening condition, depending on the type.
Most common type noticed in UAE is the beta-thalassemia. Which occurs when two asymptomatic, defected gene carrier parents, have children. The risk is 25% to have a thalassemia child.
Symptoms to look for include but not limited to: fatigue, paleness, shortness of breath, palpitations (increased heart rate), Iron deficiency anemia, Growth restrictions.
As Consanguinity is major risk factor for thalassemia premarital screening, has become mandatory before any marriages in UAE.
Awareness, knowledge and early screening is our main goal to prevent further complications and increase in number of cases.

الوالدان هما من أجمل نعم الله تعالى علينا، فمن أدركهما فليبرّهما بطاعتهما وإرضائهما، فلذلك فضل عظيم حثّ عليه ديننا الإسلامي ورسولنا الكريم عليه الصلاة والسلام حين قال: (مَن سَرَّهُ أنْ يُمَدَّ له في عُمُرِه، ويُزادَ في رِزقِه، فلْيَبَرَّ والِدَيهِ، ولْيَصِلْ رحِمَه)

Parents are deemed to be among the greatest blessings that Allah has generously bestowed upon us. Whoever is granted such a blessing should treat his parents with reverence and be dutiful to them. It is for this reason, both the Islamic doctrine and prophet peace be upon him actuated Muslims to constantly seek to obtain such great bounty, saying “One who desires a long life and an increase in livelihood should exhibit goodness towards his parents and establish bonds of kinship”
