Plan Your Visit

Temporarily Closed for Winter Renovations

Our buildings and grounds committee memebers have been hard at work this winter to restructure the Gnadenhutten Museum building interior. Please pardon our mess as we continue the process! The Museum will be open for visitors during our regular summer hours beginning June 1, with plans for a Grand-Re-opening soon. The museum grounds as always are open dawn to dusk and free to visit anytime.

Appointments for viewing museum during the winter season can be made by calling 330-432-3049

Local Life

Gnadenhutten has many small town qualities for you to enjoy! While you can certainly pack a lunch and enjoy dining outside at one of our picnic tables at the park here at Gnadenhutten, you also have access to several other options. Just a short walk away, or an even shorter drive you will find Crystal's Freedom Bee Food truck, Amici's Pizza and TJ's Restaurant all at the square uptown. If you visit on a Friday, stick around for "Food Truck Friday's" on the square where you will be sure to find something good to eat!

If you are looking for a place to stay, Brick House on Main is a wonderful bed and breakfast. The Museum and Park is within 15 minutes of further hotel accommodations in either Newcomerstown or Uhrichsville, and a 20 minute drive to New Philadelphia.

Things to Do

While visiting in the immediate area, you can explore the Southern Gateway Nature Park, fish or kayak/float in the Tuscarawas River, or enjoy time at the Heck's Grove Community Park where kids can explore the playground, host a family reunion or picnic under the pavilion or play a game of basketball.

Within a short drive you have access to several other unique historical sites and attractions including the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, Uhrichsville Waterpark, Schoenbrunn Village, Trumpet in the Land outdoor theatre, The Temperance Tavern and Olde Main Street Museum in Newcomerstown, Tuscora Park, The Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas, Historic Zoar Village and Gardens and many more. We are approximately an hour's distance from Ohio's famous Amish Country in Holmes County.
