Meet Our Keynote Speakers
Dr. Jessica Whitehead: Joan P. Brock Endowed Executive Director of Old Dominion University's Institute for Coastal Adaption and Resilience (ICAR). Dr. Whitehead is a lead author on the forthcoming Fifth National Climate Assessment and is a member of the Virginia Coastal Resilience Technical Advisory Committee and the American Meteorological Society's Board on Outreach and Informal Education.
Dr. Jessica Whitehead: Joan P. Brock Endowed Executive Director of Old Dominion University's Institute for Coastal Adaption and Resilience (ICAR). Dr. Whitehead is a lead author on the forthcoming Fifth National Climate Assessment and is a member of the Virginia Coastal Resilience Technical Advisory Committee and the American Meteorological Society's Board on Outreach and Informal Education.
Dr. Whitehead was the first Chief Resilience Officer of the North Carolina Office of Recovery and Resilience and the first coastal climate extension specialist with the NC Sea Grant and the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium and the Carolinas Integrated Sciences and Assessments (CISA) Program.

Dr. Dev Niyogi: Dr. Niyogi is the William Stamps Farish Chair Professor of GeoSciences at the University of Texas at Austin and leads their Extreme weather and Urban Sustainability "TExUS" Lab. He recently received the 2023 Landberg Award of the American Meteorlogical Society (AMS) for his "decades of leadership and pathbreaking discoveries related to aassessing urban climate extremes, their prediction and mitigation using data-model integration, and local to global partnerships".
