Guidelines:
• Student Representative to the Greenbelt Middle School PTSA Executive Board: Student representation is a vital part of the PTSA Executive Board. The PTSA Executive Board consisting of parents, teachers and administrators depends upon the representative to present timely and prudent information that exemplifies the broad range of the student population at Greenbelt Middle School.
• Ideally, the PTSA Executive Board will have 6 student representatives, two from each grade, serving on the GMS PTSA Executive Board every school year.
• No representative position is guaranteed for more than one school year. The Executive Committee will determine if the current representatives will be invited back for the next year. If a position becomes vacant, then the PTSA will announce the available position at the end of the school year and select a replacement representative to the Executive Board by the end of the first month of the new school year.
• All candidates will be asked to obtain parental permission before accepting the position. This signed permission slip will be a part of the application process and will be kept on file by the PTSA Executive Board.
• At the PTSA Executive Board monthly meeting, students will be asked to participate in PTSA functions as part of their responsibilities as a student representative to the Executive Board.
• The student representatives and a parent/guardian must become members of the PTSA to serve. Each student representative has voting rights as a member of the GMS PTSA. The representative will be expected to support PTSA-sponsored activities and events in a positive and professional manner.
• The representatives will be expected to understand and learn about what PTSA does at GMS for parents, teachers, and students.
