Transportation Options

The closest airport is the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac), which is located approximately 20 miles south of the University of Washington, and 15 miles south of downtown Seattle. It is approximately 30 minutes by bus, shuttle, taxi, or car. Visitors have several options for ground transportation from the airport to the University of Washington, which is located in the University District (U-District) area. Here are some options:

Public transit

Link light rail provides direct service between SeaTac Airport and the UW station. You will need to buy an ORCA card for travel, which can be done at the station. The ORCA card can also be used for bus travel.

With two light rail stations and more than 60 bus routes serving the University District, it’s easy to get to the University of Washington by bus or train. On Link light rail, the University of Washington Station is on the southeast side of campus, near Husky Stadium and UW Medical Center - Montlake.
