Thanks to the support of the National Science Foundation, the GLSIAM 2025 conference has travel funding to support participants from outside Chicago, who do not have their own external funding. Please keep in mind the following:
(1) Funding will be directed mainly towards early-career researchers (i.e. students, postdocs, pre-tenure faculty), but anyone in need is also welcome to apply.
(2) In the likely event that the organizers receive more applications for funding than we can accommodate, participants who give a talk (minisymposium or poster session) will be prioritized over those who do not. Other funding decisions will be made based on the application materials (CV, brief statement of interest, optional advisor letter).
(3) Early application is encouraged.
To apply for travel funding, please email the following to tleslie@illinoistech.edu and sli15@illinoistech.edu. Please use the subject line "[Your first and last name] GLSIAM Travel Funding Application".
(1) An updated copy of your CV, in pdf form, and
(2) A brief (approximately 1-2 paragraph) statement of interest. Somewhere in the statement, please explicitly indicate that your institution is located outside a 50-mile radius of Illinois Tech, and that you do not have your own external funding. ("Start-up" funds for junior faculty do not count as "external funding".)
If you are a student, you are encouraged to also have your advisor write a short letter of support on your behalf. They should send the letter to the email addresses listed above, with the subject line "[Applicant first and last name] Letter of Support, GLSIAM".
