Hello! My name is Rebecca Smith, and I am a 4th grade teacher from Birmingham, Alabama. I grew up not far from Birmingham, and at a young age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I was passionate about empowering the next generation.
Travel has always been a priority for me. I love to learn about other cultures, people and places as well as see and appreciate stunning natural wonders in our world. In 2012-2013, I had the incredible opportunity to teach abroad with the Fulbright Teacher Exchange program, in a small village just north of London.
After returning to my home school, I found more ways to incorporate a love of learning about other places into my classroom, especially since the school I am fortunate to call home has a diverse student population. In the fall of 2021, I was awarded a Fulbright Teaching for Global Classrooms Scholarship. In this class, I learned more about the importance of global education and how to implement aspects into my everyday classroom.
I hope the resources I share with you on these pages empower you to integrate global education into your everyday classroom!
