Lack of education across the world

Although it is categorized as one of the fundamental human rights, education is nowadays denied to many children around the world. According to the Borgen Project research 72 million children do not attend primary school, and a staggering number of 759 million adults are illiterate.

Why is it a problem

Higher crime rates, expose residents to a greater risk of trauma and deaths from violence and the stress of living in unsafe neighborhoods. People with less education, particularly males, are more likely to be incarcerated, which carries its own public health risks.

What are it's causes

250 million children aren't on track to learning even the most basic literacy and numeracy skills. We cannot afford to ignore this given that our fates are interconnected – our economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, public safety, and health. One economy fails and we all feel the effects.
