Ideas for Collaboration

Embarking on a Global Collaboration journey is exciting! However, it's important to establish procedures and norms with students, parents, and collaborating classrooms. Please reference this page for ideas and tools to help you get started with your Global Collaborations projects!

A few things to remember as you plan your Global Collaboration project ...

  1. Clear the project with school administration
  2. Share information about the activity with parents/guardians of your students
  3. Remember to check time zone differences!

Google Hangouts is a wonderful tool for video calls with collaborating classrooms. It's also a great idea for teachers who are participating in the project to have a Google Hangout before beginning the project to establish procedures and norms for the Global Collaboration.

Padlet is a great tool that students can use to introduce themselves at the beginning of a Global Collaboration. Each teacher involved in the project can create a Padlet wall for the students in their class. Students can individually introduce themselves, include a video or photo, and list questions they have for students in the collaborating class. Padlet has recently updated to allow users to comment on each other's posts. This has been a game-changer with Global Collaborations projects! Note: teachers must turn on this function in the settings of Padlet. Check out my Global Collaborations reflection blog post here for more information!
