The single most expensive error is reaching the payment step too quickly. Once the order is complete, the discount cannot be added afterwards — there is no retroactive application. If you notice the oversight only after the QR code lands in your inbox, the 15% is gone for that purchase.
Type EDC15 in capitals with no leading or trailing spaces. Copying from an email or a web page often drags in an invisible space at either end, which is enough to make the field reject the entry. Retype it by hand if the first attempt fails. The code is normally entered once per order, so there is no benefit in trying to stack it repeatedly.
Entering a code and seeing the field clear is not confirmation. Look for a discount line with a minus sign in the order summary and check that the total has dropped by 15%. Doing this takes a few seconds and is the only reliable way to know the offer has landed. If no discount line appears, do not proceed to payment until you have re-entered the code.
The discount is a percentage applied to the plan price at checkout. It does not apply to in-app wallet credit or to a rewards balance. If you top up a wallet and then buy a plan from that balance, you are not buying at a discounted plan price. Buy the plan directly and apply the code to it.
Because the code is not stored on the account, it has to be re-entered on every order. Travellers who buy one plan now and another later frequently forget on the second purchase. If your trip needs more than one plan, note the code somewhere you will see it at checkout. Whether Global Yo's checkout allows plans for several travellers on a single order, or requires separate orders, is not stated — so check on the site before assuming one order will cover everyone.
Saving the 15% is pointless if the eSIM itself does not work. Global Yo plans are data-only, with no voice calls or SMS from a local number, so do not buy one expecting a local phone number. Your device must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Install the profile while on Wi-Fi at home, either directly or by scanning the QR code; on Android the path is Settings > Connections > SIM card manager > Add eSIM > scan QR code, and on iPhone it sits under Cellular/Mobile Data > Add eSIM. Data roaming must be enabled on the Global YO profile for it to connect abroad. Finally, plans expire at the end of their validity window and unused data does not carry over, so a larger discounted plan is only better value if you will realistically use it. Activation can be scheduled for a specific date or triggered manually on arrival.
