This Privacy Policy describes how the Global Tab & Browser Protector Chrome extension handles your information. Our commitment to your privacy is paramount.
1. Data Collection and Use
We are transparent about data collection: We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, browsing history, website content, or user-identifiable information.
The extension operates entirely locally on your device. No information is ever sent to external servers or third parties.
2. Permissions and Their Purpose
The extension requires specific permissions to function correctly. Here is why we need them:
Read and change all your data on the websites you visit (<all_urls> and scripting): This permission sounds alarming, but it is necessary for the core functionality. The extension needs to inject a small, lightweight script into the webpages you open to detect when you try to close them and trigger the browser's native "Leave Site?" warning dialog. It does not read or collect the content of these pages.
Access browsing history (tabs): This is required to detect when new tabs are opened or existing ones are updated, so the protection script can be applied automatically. We do not store or view your history.
Storage (storage): This permission is used solely to save your personal preferences locally within your browser (specifically, your choice to show or hide the on-page status message).
3. Third-Party Services
The extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking tools, or advertising services.
4. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the extension after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
