Katherine Willow received a Bachelor of Music degree in Harp Performance and a Master of Music Education degree, both from The Boston Conservatory. She received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Education from Boston University, focusing her research within a social psychological framework. While in Boston, Dr. Willow co-founded GentleMuses, the therapeutic music program at Massachusetts General Hospital. Currently, she lives in Minnesota, where she authors children’s books and works in K-12 education. Dr. Willow is a Fulbright recipient, participating in the Teachers for Global Classrooms program in partnership with IREX and the US State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. She is a Teacher Ambassador for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the #TeachSDGs initiative. She is also a NAMM Foundation award recipient. When she’s not geeking out over global education, she is usually off adventuring; her hobbies include skydiving, scuba diving, climbing, playing hockey, and practicing ashtanga yoga.
