What is Kinder Connect?

Kinder Connect happens on certain dates and times depending on the school in the month of March. It is a good time to register your child for kindergarten, bring paperwork, and allow your child to explore the classrooms and school in preparation for the fall. Please see the following video to learn more. Gaffney Lane's Kinder Connect night is from 5-6 on March 10th, 2021.

What does an average day look like in kindergarten?

Kindergarten looks quite different than it used to! Students read, write and do math on a daily basis. They have 2 recesses a day, lunch and depending on the day a "special" such as music, PE, library, or computers. We set aside time each day for a morning meeting that promotes community building as well as social/emotional lessons to strengthen turn-taking, positive play and problem solving.

How can I help my child at home?

READ! READ! READ! We send out a monthly practice work calendar, but the best thing you can do with your child is to read to them on a daily basis. Books that include rhymes (Mother Goose nursery rhymes and Dr. Seuss) are often times a favorite and help strengthen
pre-reading skills.
