Privacy Policy for Glimpse

Data Collection and Usage

Glimpse collects users' email addresses, passwords, and profile information such as usernames and profile pictures. This data is stored in Firebase and is used for login, user profile management, and discovering devices via WiFi Direct. We use Firebase Authentication for secure user login.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your data with anyone, except for the necessary use of third-party services like Firebase, which helps us store user data and manage authentication. Firebase does not sell your data.

Data Storage and Retention

User data is stored using Firebase Realtime Database and retained as long as the user has an account with Glimpse. Upon request, user data can be deleted by contacting us via email. We do not retain data after account deletion unless required for legitimate legal or security reasons, in which case users will be informed.

Permissions

Glimpse requires the following permissions for app functionality:

POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To send app notifications, such as when devices are discovered.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: To manage media playback during foreground services.

INTERNET and NETWORK_STATE: To provide network-based features, such as device discovery.

WIFI and LOCATION Permissions: To discover and broadcast devices through WiFi Direct for device-to-device communication.

MEDIA Permissions: To allow users to upload or access media files like images, videos, and audio.

Data Security

We do not currently encrypt data transfers or retrieval. However, we take reasonable precautions such as secure storage in Firebase to protect your information. We recommend users avoid sharing sensitive information through the app until encryption is implemented.

Account Deletion

If you wish to delete your Glimpse account and the associated data, please contact us. Once requested, all your data will be permanently deleted unless required for legal or security purposes.
