🎓 Homeschool Graduation Ceremony

Each spring, GLHEA hosts a Christ‑centered graduation ceremony to honor the hard work, perseverance, and accomplishments of our homeschool seniors. This parent‑led event is a meaningful milestone for families and a joyful celebration of God’s faithfulness throughout the homeschooling journey.

⏰ Event Timing

Graduation ceremonies typically take place in mid‑May at a local church in the Greater Lafayette area. While details vary slightly each year, the general schedule follows this rhythm:

11:00 AM — Rehearsal
12:30 PM — Prelude & Senior Slideshow
1:30 PM — Graduation Ceremony
Reception — Immediately following the ceremony

Note: All final decisions are made by the parent committee for that year.

🤝 Shared Costs

All expenses associated with the graduation ceremony are equally shared among participating families.

The parent committee manages the budget and communicates costs clearly throughout the planning process.

⭐ Parent‑Led Planning

Preparation for graduation begins in January and is led entirely by participating parents. Families receive a sign‑up form and attend an informational meeting to begin organizing the event.

Parents work together to coordinate all aspects of the ceremony, including:

Program design
Reception coordination
Photo area setup
Greeters
Clean‑up team
Slideshow creation
Senior board display
Treasurer / budget coordination

This collaborative approach keeps the ceremony personal, meaningful, and reflective of the families involved.

Our graduation ceremony is a celebration of God’s faithfulness and the hard work of students and families throughout their homeschooling journey. We desire this event to honor Christ, encourage families, and reflect the unity we share in Him.

Family‑focused: Recognizing the vital role parents play in discipling and educating their children.
