Research objectives

1) We use biologger data (GPS and accelerometer) to investigate the effect of anthropogenic noise, light and linear features on owl:

• Nestbox occupancy 

• Breeding success

• Movements and habitat selection

• Hunting behaviour

2) We collect owl pellets at the nestboxes to investigate owl diet composition along the rural-urban gradient 

3) We use acoustic data to investigate the effect of anthropogenic noise and light on owl:

•  Presence and distribution in and around Glasgow 

• Abundance in and around Glasgow 

• Vocal behaviour

Research methods

We currently use the following methods/equipment to address our objectives:

• Biologgers with GPS, light sensor and accelerometer --> movement and behaviour data

• AudioMoths --> acoustic data

• Camera traps --> foraging data
