Welcome to my website! There is only one rule that you should know before you continue reading and exploring... my website is written in my voice. When I first created this website, for my digital tools class, I wanted to try something new that I had never done with "classwork". I wanted to write in my own voice. This website is more than classwork to me; it is a space for me to reflect on my practices, my desires, my growth, my strengths, and my weaknesses. It is my space that I am sharing with others, and I want my voice to be authentic. My tone, my jokes (hit or miss), my commentary, me. I don't want this website to be written by the version of myself that stresses over whether or not I sound intelligent enough. I want it to be written by the version of me who is overcome with passion.
As you explore this website, my goal is that you begin to see how my understanding of digital tools has changed over these past few months. If you don't see that growth, well then... I have done something wrong. Or you aren't looking well enough. Either way, enjoy me talking about digital tools through a digital tool!

Random facts about me
My favorite place to sit and think is on Brickyard (a dirt road in my hometown)
I broke my toe running through the house in 7th grade and that is what led to me being diagnosed with ADHD (super weird story)
I watched the entire Child's Play franchise for the first time when I was three. I currently own a Chucky and Tiffany doll.
I went viral on TikTok during the pandemic and Emma Chamberlain liked my video. She literally has 81 million subscribers on Youtube for those who don't know.
I first tried buffalo chicken dip for the first time in 7th grade. I have made it every other week since then.
Bands I got TOO obsessed with in my life: Nirvana, The Beatles, and NWA

My name is Gladys. I know it's a name that I share with elderly woman, but that is okay because I love it. My mama said that when she named me after my great-grandmother, she thought that she was going to be able to bring the name back in style... she was mistaken. I am, and I say this with so much sadness, in my fourth year, and I say this with so much pride, at the University of Georgia. I am in the English Education program as well as the Double Dawgs program. I am currently student teaching at North Oconee High (go titans!) and I am absolutely loving everything about it. I feel extremely lucky to be placed at such an amazing school and I swear I am not just saying that. It is amazing!
I come from an obnoxiously long line of teachers. Seriously, it's like do we not know how to do anything else?! My mama, my aunts, so many of my cousins, both of my grandparents, and both of my sisters work in education. Since I am a middle child and it is my duty to go against the grain with unreasonable defiance, I was going to try to do something other than teaching. I couldn't escape it though because I genuinely love this profession. A teacher is all I've ever wanted to be; it is all I've ever known.
Here are some other tidbits of who I am. I am absolutely obsessed with everything football and of course the dawgs. I am from a very rural area which made my first year at UGA a bit challenging because I was slightly ashamed of not coming from a larger, richer, and more modern area. I have learned to love it though; maybe a little too much. I still get comments every week about my "accent" that I for the life of me cannot hear. I love being back home with my friends and my family, but I also love being in Athens and experiencing college with my friends, so it is hard to find a balance sometimes. I love sitting on the couch with my roommate while we binge-watch tv shows. I live for having a Twilight movie marathon any time it rains hard during the fall. Every winter I have a Harry Potter movie marathon (I am currently having one right now). I tried grilled cheese for the first time a little over a year ago. I now eat at least one grilled cheese (perfectly toasted in the air fryer) every week... obviously. Oh, and I love the color pink.
