I ran into the same issue, and I am using Premium. I can see the artifacts were created, but the error message displayed is This job could not start because it could not retrieve the needed artifacts.

I currently have a project that would produce artifacts with an expires_in=1h limit. I recently noticed that my disk quota was almost full; attributing almost 7GB to artifacts. This is unexpected as my artifacts are only around 10M.

I manually checked each CI job, and none of them have a downloadable artifact. That is, there is not a download button next to the job in the job list and a few jobs I looked closely at said that the artifact had expired.

However, the files i want to be excluded are still included; both the deploy folder and the .git folder and their contents are present when I download the artifact from git. I also get this warning when running the artifact stage of my pipeline, despite git being excluded: WARNING: Part of .git directory is on the list of files to archive . I have tried changing it from $CI_PROJECT_DIR/git/* to $CI_PROJECT_DIR/.git/*, but this makes the artifact even larger (so large that the pipeline fails and i can't download the artifact).

I have also tried removing the /* from the filepaths and also changing it to /**/*, but neither solved the issue. One very strage thing is that sometimes the artifact is smaller with the first path ending, and sometimes it is smaller when it is removed.

I was reading the GitLab Job Artifact docs here and it says "Job artifacts created by GitLab Runner are uploaded to GitLab and are downloadable as a single archive using the GitLab UI or the GitLab API."

I have a pipeline that's creating a `bundle.zip` file in a build stage and saves the file as an artifact so the deploy stage can use it. If I ran a build on the develop branch and the main branch manually has its deploy job run, would the main branch deploy the develop code that was uploaded as the most recent bundled zip file?

Lately, I've been working a lot with GitLab pipeline files and I have now a bit more complicated setup than usual. In my case, the middle step is included from another project as a template. I had a nasty bug that from the first step artifacts were never arriving at the last step. However as per Gitlab's docs that should be working by default.

SLSA first launched in 2021 in response to calls for a framework to secure software supply chains. SLSA provides a checklist of standards and controls to prevent tampering, improve integrity, and secure packages and infrastructure. The goal is for software developers to be able to use best practices to guarantee the integrity of each and every artifact, more specifically that the source code users are relying on is the code they are actually using and that the build machine producing the artifacts was secure.

GitLab enables users to generate artifact metadata following the SLSA format for any artifacts that are built on the platform. Because the process happens within the GitLab Runner, without needing third-party software, it prevents the opportunity for any tampering or corruption of the attestation itself.

We have pipelines set to run every push to GitLab, but the pipelines are quite simple: install necessary packages and run tests. The only artifacts we explicitly save are log files (usually only a few KB, if anything), and screenshots of failed browser tests (again, a couple of MB at most). We also have artifacts set to expire after 24 hours.

Now my task build creates an artifact(jar) which I can download from the UI but I want to access this artifact in my deploy_test and deploy_production. In I read that artifacts are automatically available in the next job if that job depends the job creating the artifact. But how do I access it? I want to grab this artifact and use it in my deploying task.

Believe that I found the solution, when adding dependencies to a task all artifacts created by that task are downloaded and extracted in the build folder used by the next runner as documented in _artifacts.html.

The settings.xml file is present and it contains the correct structure with the same personal token I used for uploading the artifact to the registry. Parameters for the registry and the artifact in pom.xml are correct.

Every Julia package we have lives in its own GitLab repo. Each has a .gitlab-ci.yml file which defines the pipeline for that repo.

The basic idea for the test job is to use a julia docker image, clone the repo and run Pkg.test.

Like in that example, you can have one job per julia version you want to support.

If you have many packages like we have at invenia, you may want to have a central yml file somewhere (we have this live in its own separate repo) which defines a standard pipeline, and then have all package repos include that file.

Most packages are documented by the README and additional markdown files in the repository. Some projects use an in-house documentation system which converts markdown files and various data sources to PDF files. This is just another CI job and the built PDFs are exported as CI artifacts.

GitLab CI allows you to add variables to .gitlab-ci.yml that are set in the build environment. The variables are stored in the git repository and are meant to store non-sensitive project configuration, for example:

.gitlab-ci.yml allows you to specify an unlimited number of jobs. Each job must have a unique name, which is not one of the Keywords mentioned above. A job is defined by a list of parameters that define the build behavior.

The name directive allows you to define the name of the created artifacts archive. That way, you can have a unique name for every archive which could be useful when you'd like to download the archive from GitSwarm. artifacts:expire_in is used to delete uploaded artifacts after the specified time. By default, artifacts are stored on GitSwarm forever. expire_in allows you to specify how long artifacts should live before they expire, counting from the time they are uploaded and stored on GitSwarm.

To use this feature, define dependencies in context of the job and pass a list of all previous builds from which the artifacts should be downloaded. You can only define builds from stages that are executed before the current one. An error will be shown if you define builds from the current stage or next ones. Defining an empty array will skip downloading any artifacts for that job.

In the following example, we define two jobs with artifacts, build:osx and build:linux. When the test:osx is executed, the artifacts from build:osx will be downloaded and extracted in the context of the build. The same happens for test:linux and artifacts from build:linux.
