Welcome to Gitayan Music Academy – where music is not just taught, but experienced.

Founded with a passion to spread the joy and discipline of music, Gitayan Music Academy is a nurturing space for learners of all ages — from young children as young as 3 years old to adults of any age. We believe it’s never too early or too late to begin your musical journey.

👩‍🏫 Our Faculty

Sumana Gayen Mandal is a dedicated vocalist and educator with formal training in Indian classical music. She completed her B.A. in Vocal Music and M.A. in Khayal Music from Rabindra Bharati University.  A devoted disciple of the eminent classical maestro Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and Guruma Smt. Chandana Chakraborty, Sumana brings to her students a rich guru–shishya parampara ethos blended with contemporary pedagogy.

Teaching since 2018, she focuses on:

• Voice training & voice culture (breath control, tonality, range building)
  
  

• Hindustani Khayal—raga grammar, bandish rendition, taan and alaap development
  
  

• Semi-classical & light genres with strong emphasis on Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, Folk and Adhunik songs
  
  

• Stage readiness—presentation, tala-laya discipline, and improvisational confidence

Note: Gitayan Music Academy is a leading music school in Barasat, offering Hindustani classical vocal training, light music classes, and online singing lessons. Founded by certified music teachers with years of experience, our academy helps students of all ages prepare for the Surobharati Sangeet Kala Kendra exams and build a strong foundation in Indian classical music.
