URISA is pleased to announce the 2017 GIS-Pro Student Competitions!

Compete to earn the chance to showcase your geospatial technology projects and skills to the GIS community. Whether you are new to GIS or have a few experiences under your belt, we welcome your ideas and creativity. URISA looks forward to learning about how students are taking steps towards a geospatially inclined future!

University Ignite Presentation Competition

Eligibility

  • Must...
    • be 18 years or older
    • be enrolled in a post-secondary educational institute or a recent graduate
    • be able to attend GIS-Pro 2017

Requirements

  • Must...
    • be the original work of the applicant
    • be an individual presentation (no group submissions)
    • demonstrate spatial thinking with use of a geospatial technology

INITIAL ROUND

  • Submit a 150-200 word abstract
    • Demonstrates the applicants knowledge and proficiency in applying a geospatial technology
  • Judging Criteria
      • Project Design
      • Organization
      • Analysis
      • Overall Presentation Quality

      • Email Subject "GIS Pro Ignite Competition"

FINAL ROUND

  • Formal Conference Ignite-Style Presentation
      • 7-minute presentation
      • 3 minutes for questions
  • Judging Criteria
      • Presentation does not exceed 7-minutes
      • Project design, analysis and importance are explained clearly
      • Overall presentation quality
      • Creative use of geospatial technology and spatial thinking


High School Poster Presentation Competition

  • Must...
    • be 18 years or younger
    • be enrolled in high school courses or a recent graduate
    • be able to attend GIS-Pro 2017

      • Poster must be 36" x 48"
      • Poster must be on a tri-fold board to sit up on a flat surface

      • Overall presentation quality and aesthetics
      • Quality of cartographic design
