We are a community "Back to Netball" club based in Girton, Cambridge, UK. We welcome adult women of all levels and abilities with a focus on having fun and playing social netball.
We play term time on Monday evenings from 7-8:15pm coached by an England Netball qualified coach. Some of us play league matches which are often on either a Wednesday or Thursday. Matches and league games are completely optional and up to the individual.
We play on the floodlit netball court at the Girton Recreation Ground, Cambridge, UK, CB3 0FH.
We charge roughly about £5 a session per person to cover the cost of the coach and the court paid half termly. We don't have a kit so our start up costs are very low.
We welcome any players of any ability and your first session is free so why not give us a try! If you wish to try us out, please send us an email at: girton.village.netball@gmail.com
After the 2012 Olympics Girton Netball Club was started with London Olympic Legacy funding and the help of our coach, Helen. The aim was, and is, to give adult women the opportunity to play netball in an inclusive, social and fun space.
Initially we were part of a small social league in Milton along with other local teams, but in recent years we have begun to play a bit further afield, as well as arranging friendly matches around the Cambridge area.
While we have grown in numbers, as a ‘Back to Netball’ club our focus is always on getting as many women enjoying playing as possible, at all levels and abilities. Of course making progress and even winning sometimes are part of the fun too!
