I am Guest Editor of the Special Issue Advances in Mathematical Optimal Control and Applications, published in the journal Axioms. The deadline for submissions is March 2025. For more detailed information, visit the webpage of the special issue at the following link.

About me

My name is Giovanni Fusco and I currently am a post-doctoral fellow at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, under the supervision of Michael Malisoff. We are interested in research on interval contractors and reference governors for systems with uncertainty.

I obtained my PhD on March 14th 2023 (the Pi Day!) at Department of Mathematics Tullio Levi-Civita under the supervision of Monica Motta, working on gap phenomena in optimal control with state constraints and sample stabilizability of nonlinear systems by means of Lie-bracket-depending feedback laws. Then I completed two post-doctoral fellowships at Univesity of Padova under the supervision of Monica Motta and Giovanni Colombo, working on impulsive problems with time delays.

I got married in 2021 with Arianna, and in 2022 our first child was born, Tommaso.

Areas of expertise: Nonlinear Control Theory, Optimal Control.

Specialist knowledge: necessary conditions of optimality, gap phenomena, impulsive problems, ODE with time delays, asymptotic controllability, feedback stabilizability, Lie brackets, nonsmooth analysis, interval analysis, systems with uncertainity.
