These are two of my student's testimonies from the "School of Biblical Studies", class of 2023-2024. It's incredible to see how the Lord is working with those who are studying His word.
I grew up in the church. My whole life I have been a Christian. But like so many others, I was never taught important context for understanding the Bible. I could grasp certain aspects of the Bible but never details that really make the text come alive. It says that the word of God is living and active but I don’t think I understood fully what that meant until doing an SBS. The word of God becomes so much more rich when you put yourselves in the shoes of the original audience. It becomes so much more interesting when you understand why Paul wrote letters like 1 Corinthians, which to our modern understanding is slightly offensive. But to their worldview and culture, it actually gives honor to women! Or like how everything in the Bible seems to somehow connect back to the Garden of Eden. Every part of the Bible is God trying to restore humanity back to his original design. SBS has deepened my understanding of who God is and the lengths he would go to to be with us again.

Prior to SBS, I walked with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with great intimacy. We did life to gather and had fun together. In SBS the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have stepped away from me. They have put me into the audience and placed themselves on stage. In so doing I have learned who God is apart from me. Before I only had an understanding of God and how he pertains to me. In reality, He is doing his own Good thing filled with redemption and relationship.
