1. First of all, how it works?
GinxDroid Browser has a capable multi-segment downloader. If download task supports multi-segment downloading then, it is best preferred way to download a file in multiple segments since you can seize maximum downloading speed while downloading. Occasionally there may be a situation where download task not supports multi-segment downloading, then downloader of GinxDroid Browser will download that download task in single segment. There are servers on this planet earth which will not return file size sometimes so if server not returns file size then downloader will download that file with chunk progress. Please note that you can see ‘Resumable’ or ‘Unresumable’ word on download task ui. Resumable simply means you can pause-resume download task. Unresumable means if you pause that download task and then want to resume that download task after sometime, then you have to start again from scratch since that download task not supports resuming since it is unresumable. Downloader of GinxDroid Browser will download download tasks in queue. Queue is nothing but serving one task at a time. That is for example, suppose if you queued 5 download tasks in downloader, then they will processed one by one and not at a time.
2. How to configure download path
When download location is unknown it will show a dialog which has button ‘Select download location’ upon clicking that button, it will open documents provider; you can choose download location from that documents provider. Note that some devices sometimes hides storage. So documents provider has an option to show storage. If storage is hidden then first of all unhide that storage and thereby proceed towards selecting download location. Please also note that documents provider is not part of GinxDroid Browser. When you click on ‘Select download location’ button, it will allow you to pick a directory subtree. The system will display various DocumentsProvider instances installed on the device, letting you to navigate through them. You can also configure download path from downloader settings. Please refer to ‘Downloader settings’ section of this user manual.
3. Downloader user interface:
As you can see in above screenshots downloader contains two separate fragments. One for queue of download tasks which are not yet complete and one for completed download tasks. It also has ‘+’ button on top; using that button, you can add a new download task. Note that you can also share download link with downloader; it will fetch metadata about download task and thereby processes it and show results.
4. How to start a new download task and configure segments:
You can start a new download task in downloader in three ways. Downloader is attached with GinxDroid Browser. So it will automatically show a dialog if GinxDroid Browser finds a download link. You can also share download link with GinxDroid Downloader from other apps. You can also add a new download task manually in downloader. Downloader ui has ‘+’ button. You can use that button to add a new download task. When it fetching of metadata about download task is done, it will show below dialog.
As you can see in above screenshot, after fetching metadata about download task it will show a dialog which has ‘Download’ and ‘Cancel’ buttons. It also has ‘Segments’ seek-bar. You can select between 2, 4, 6, 8 segments using that segments seek-bar. Please note that sometime server does not returns file size/multi-segment downloading is not possible. So in such cases downloader will download that file using single segment and hence above prompt dialog will not show ‘Segments’ seek-bar in those cases. You can also copy file URL using ‘Copy’ button.
5. Download task – pause and resume:
You can pause/resume download task using pause/resume button if download task is resumable. For example Click on ▶ icon to pause download task and vice versa. Note that it will also show an info button (button with 🛈 like icon) if there is any error. If there is one then it will show error dialog which will show error details alongside with possible solutions. Note that unresumable download task does not supports pause and resuming. If you pause; and resume unresumable download task after some time then it will start from scratch.
6. How to delete download task:
Long press on download task and press ‘Delete’ button from menu. Note that from confirmation dialog you can also check ‘Delete source file too’ checkbox to delete source file from storage alongside with download task entry from downloader. You can also delete multiple download tasks at once. To delete multiple download tasks, first of all click on menu button which is present at top right corner of main downloader ui (button with ⋮ icon). Then click on ‘Edit’; thereby you can see tools to delete multiple download tasks in top bar.
7. What is ‘Refresh download address’ option:
Sometimes download link expires, in such cases you can refresh this broken download link using ‘Refresh download address’ option from download task’s menu. To open this dialog, Long press on download task and press ‘Refresh download address’ button from menu. You can paste new download link. When you paste, it will process and if possible then you can resume broken download task.
8. Error handling:
Downloader of GinxDroid Browser also has powerful error handling. To view which error occurred, press info button (button with 🛈 like icon) of download task in which error is occurred. This will open error details dialog which will show error details alongside with possible solutions.

Please refer to How to configure download path section of this user manual. Downloader settings also has ‘Auto reconnect’ switch which you can use to on/off auto reconnect feature. Do you noticed? Sometimes network gets lost due to problems like range, etc. If auto reconnect is on then it will auto reconnect to network when network becomes available and resumes download task if possible.
10. Background downloading:
Downloader also supports background downloading. It will show a foreground notification to facilitate background downloading. For example see below screenshot.
In GinxDroid Browser you can also set dark/light theme alongside with force dark web ui. From GinxDroid Browser’s main ui, click on theme icon (pallete like icon) that will open theme dialog. You can choose any theme. After choosing theme, browser will restart and reload webpage(s). Note that you can also choose ‘Force dark web ui’ option which is experimental. This option will darken webpage. You can choose this option when browsing in night to reduce eye-stress.
