About me

I am a PhD student at the University of Notre Dame. I completed by BA in Philosophy with a certificate in Logic & Formal Reasoning at the University of Kansas in 2023.

My primary research areas are normative and applied ethics. In particular, I'm interested in virtues like moral honesty and related concepts like integrity, silence, and humility. I'm also curious about ostensibly related vices, such as hypocrisy and flattery. These concepts draw me not only to debates in contemporary virtue ethics, but also classical Chinese philosophy. In the future, I hope to delve into ancient Greek and medieval accounts of these virtues as well. Aside from virtue ethics, I'm also interested in the intersection between morality and the law, specifically justifications for the explicit inclusion or exclusion of different sorts of values, i.e., moral, intellectual, legal, prudential, etc., in judicial reasoning.

My non-explicitly-philosophical interests include owls, the Advisory Opinions podcast, Kansas Basketball, and doughnuts (see the above photo).
