Ginger Onion Fish Meat

Hello and welcome to my page!

I'm Ginger Onion Fish Meat 姜葱鱼肉,  Ginger or 姜葱 for short. I originally published under E R Zhang (aka Zhang Er Ren) for a time but then I decided to embrace the Chinese Web Novelist tradition of naming myself something ridiculous. So 2023 is the year I will begin publishing under Ginger Onion Fish Meat! 

I'm a genderqueer/nonbinary writer (they/them/ta) living in Malaysia. Most of my stories tend to involve some version of Love VS Duty VS Sacrifice, the mundaneness of bureaucracy, contemplation of the human existence, science fiction-esque horror, and the Southeast Asian experience which is pretty much all of the previous rolled into one. In general, the shorter it is, the funnier it will be, and the longer it is, the more existential horror and potential for a Merry Bad End. 

Every single character that I've written is queer, explicitly stated or otherwise. Please feel free to assume that no one is straight. NO ONE.
