TASK 1 WELCOMING SESSION
Project teachers and students were welcomed by the headmistress and the school representatives, also, they met the students and teachers in the classrooms. They joined in integrating games and activities (dances, small talks and lessons about their countries).
Project students were introduced to a presentation of the School Museum: „Black and White Pictures”, Abstract Painting and art experiments, pop art. and „Colour my city”, Also, they admired the school exhibition „Women in Holocaust” which was sent by Yad Vashem. The World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem. Project teachers discussed the Project presentations – project website. In the afternoon activities, teachers and students visited the Old Town, Royal Caste and Royal Road, which belongs to the World Heritage. During the walking tour, the project group learned the history of Warsaw and visited the open-air Warsaw Photography exhibition showing the development of the city and the tragic moments in its history.
Teachers and students participated in a project walking tour in the Łazienki Park with the monument of Fryderyk Chopin, a Polish and French pianist. They also walked along in the Vistula Boulevards and the oldest bridge in Warsaw – Poniatowskiego Bridge and visited Saska Kepa – a historical district on the Island. In the end, the group enjoyed Polish cuisine at Zapiecek Restaurant.
TASK 2 THE HISTORY OF POLISH JEWS
The project coordinator and the group of Polish students led the group and described the life of Jews in the Ghetto:
- A walking tour in the Northern District ( Muranów) – Jewish traces in Warsaw: From Umschlagplatz to Próżna Street: a tomb of Mordechai Anielewicz in Miła Street, the hidden treasures ( Emmanuel Ringenblum artefacts) in Nowolipki Street, Biała Street and the Court, Elektrolarna Street and Photoplasticon - pictures from Ghetto, original ghetto wall and the remains of the Jewish housing estate in Waliców Street, Synagogue Nożyków, Próżna Street.
- Students and teachers visited Polin Museum with audioguides and learned the history of Polish Jews
- a City Game „Murals in Muranów”, an integration game: searching the street art. in Muranów which tells the life of Jews in the past and nowadays.
TASK 3 HOLOCAUST
Teachers and students participated in a day trip to Auschwitz Birkenau Museum. They had a history lesson with a museum curator in the German Concentration Camp
Polish students prepared an online game-based platform Kahoot and Quiziz. Students answered the questions about Poland and the places they had visited.
TASK 4 WARSAW UPRISING
Project students together with students from Szkoła Podstawowa z Oddziałami Dwujęzycznymi nr 157 visited the Warsaw Uprising Museum with audio guides. Polish students led the history lesson of everyday life during Nazi occupation, they explained the reasons and consequences of the uprising in Warsaw in 1944.
TASK 5 ART. AND CRAFTS
Project students participated in printing art. workshops „Make love, not war” with the local artists. They printed the project slogan and the logo on their T-shirts and souvenir bags.
TASK 6 DON’T KEEP IT UNDER YOUR HAT
After the exchange, students wrote essays, diaries and articles in the school magazine about the places they had visited. They published their films and photos in the school exhibits. Project students are running peer lessons during their history lessons.
The project students understood the threads of nationalism and prejudices.
All project activities are integrated into the school program.
