Where is the Data Center located?: It is located at 8050 Camino Arroyo. Directly next to farmland.
Has the Data Center been approved?: Yes, unfortunately it has been approved. It required only one individuals approval and no public hearings due to the zone it was built.
How much power will the Data Center use?: It will be using 98 MW of power once the full construction is done. That is over 50,000 U.S homes worth of power.
How much water does the Data Center plan to use?: For total construction and cooling, it will be 7.5 million gallons of water initially. Then they are alloted a recurring use of 5.8 millions gallons a year.
That means after construction and a year of use, it will use approximately the yearly water use of 133 American households.
What affect will the Data Center have on residents utility bills?: Reports have shown that households that live near Data Centers have seen spikes in their energy and water bills due to the increased strain on the infastructure.
BAN any future data centers within Gilroy, and the surrounding area.
REGULATE the data center by having a binding agreement that holds Amazon to the following terms:
Have monitoring that ensures the strain on infrastructure does not roll over to the ratepayer in anyway
Postpone the operation of the data center until only recycled water can be used through both Phase 1 and 2
Require the project to source its own green energy.
Ensure the project is never used to train AI.
Mandate all workers be locals of Gilroy or the surrounding area
Guarantee that the data center will not expand past Phase 2
