When Capitalism Kills: The Link Between Money & Murder

Author Shawn Gillick, of Destroy Capitalism Before It Destroys Us! and 10 Steps to a Moneyless World, delivers a blistering, evidence-driven exploration of how economic systems shape human behavior, often times with deadly consequences. In When Capitalism Kills: The Link Between Money & Murder, Gillick combines investigative reporting, case studies, and social-science analysis to show how structural incentives created by capitalist institutions can lead ordinary people to commit heinous acts of murder.

Through compelling storytelling and rigorous research, this book connects the dots between profit motives, resource scarcity, exploitative labor practices, privatized violence, systemic neglect, and the acts of violence they precipitate. Gillick examines real-world examples such as the infamous life-insurance profit motive, murders for hire and other examples such as when people fear getting a divorce from their spouses after years of marriage.

On the Edge: My Life with Borderline Personality Disorder

Raw, relentless, and ultimately human — On the Edge: My Life with Borderline Personality Disorder is a memoir that rips open the often-misunderstood world of BPD and invites readers inside with brutal honesty and unexpected tenderness.

This is my latest book release and is part of a series of personal memoirs that describe in detail my struggles and experiences being gay, joining the United States Marine Corps, becoming an atheist and finally dealing with my battle with having BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder).

10 Steps to a Moneyless World

Against a backdrop of rising authoritarianism, runaway corporate power, accelerating automation, and a climate in crisis, 10 Steps to a Moneyless World offers a clear, urgent roadmap for a radically different future.

Similar to my second self-published book titled (Destroy Capitalism Before It Destroys Us!),  I argue that gradually reforming capitalism won’t save us. Instead, I lay out ten practical & actionable steps to transition away from money as the primary medium of exchange, using existing manufacturing and distribution systems to make the shift fast and feasible. This is not utopian theory; it’s a pragmatic plan for structural change that can be implemented in years rather than decades.

Beware of the Cult: How Cults Destroy Lives and How You Can Escape

I'm not just a graphic designer. I'm also trying my hand at writing. I currently have five books available for purchase on Amazon and other online retailers.

In my latest book, I attempt to offer a precise definition of what cults actually are and offers advice on how people can defect from and escape such groups. In a world filled with so much political and spiritual uncertainty, people are searching for meaning in their lives and often end up becoming involved with cults or “cult like” groups. I believe that essentially any group can become a cult.

People’s devotion to work and each other often times gets them into trouble before it’s too late. The book opens discussing some of the most famous American cults and then offers socio-psychological and philosophical analysis of what makes certain groups actual cults. I conclude the book by offering some possible solutions and advice for individuals who find themselves in a cult and how to safely escape before it's too late.

Beware of the Cult provides a good introductory foundation for readers interested in the sociological phenomenon of group think and cults.

Work Equals Slavery: How the Modern Workplace is a Form of Slavery

In this book, I attempt to explain why the modern workplace is a form of modern-day slavery. With so many people working long and exhausting hours, minimum wage never being raised and a severe lack of participation in unions that protect workers’ rights, it’s time for American workers to rise up and demand safe working conditions. It’s also time to put an end to workplace bullying and discrimination.

If you’ve ever wondered why it is so difficult to get a job, then this book is for you. Possible solutions are presented alongside plenty of examples and philosophical analysis.

Do Ask, Do Tell, Say Gay! A Memoir & Commentary On Being Gay in the United States Marine Corps

Do Ask, Do Tell, Say Gay is a memoir depicting my life story. However, it's not just another memoir. It's a historic account of what life was like for gays and lesbians during the infamous Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT) policy that banned gay and lesbian service.

I bravely tell my story of dealing with having to live a lie for four years from 1998 - 2002. I recount my experiences of being bullied and talk about how one of my superiors began to suspect I was gay and almost launched an investigation which could have resulted in a dishonorable discharge mere weeks prior to getting out of the marine corps.

Destroy Capitalism Before It Destroys Us!

America and nations around the world are facing dire circumstances. With fascism firmly in place, AI altering how corporations conduct business, and climate change causing unprecedented natural disasters more frequently, it’s safe to say we’re living in some incredibly strange times

.

This book discusses not only why capitalism should be destroyed, but offers possible alternatives (using manufacturing and distribution systems currently being used). The way forward will be through transitional change that won’t have to take decades to accomplish.

Destroy Capitalism Before It Destroys Us! is a call to action for readers to begin thinking outside the box about how to create a world without using money as a means of exchange.

New Existentialism: A New Philosophy for the 21st Century

New Existentialism: A New Philosophy for the 21st Century, is a timely book. It's not only about philosophy, but is also a call to action for American's to decide whether they want to keep democracy or succumb to the evils of fascism as climate change and AI (Artificial Intelligence) begin to encroach upon their individual freedoms.

This was my first book which I began writing in 2015. I didn't get around to publishing it until 2023 after trying to get it published traditionally through well-known book publishing companies. Once I discovered how hard that was going to be, I discovered self-publishing and haven't looked back since.
