Publication Opportunities

(Im)migrant Narratives

At GILJ, we are excited to launch the (Im)migrant Narratives initiative to amplify personal stories of (im)migration from community members, students, and lawyers through our online publication. Any immigration policy or conversation that does not center community is harmful and useless. We hope you agree and share your stories with us to dream together about justice and collective liberation.

For more information on GILJ's (Im)migrant Narratives initiative, please review our submissions page. We are currently accepting submissions on a rolling basis and aim to publish as many stories as we can.

If you have any questions, please contact Hamsa Fayed.

Student Notes

Every GILJ member is required to submit a Student Note. Refer to the Student Note Requirement page for detailed information on expectations, requirements, and how to pick a topic.

Current Developments

A Current Development is a 5-10 page paper on a currently emerging issue in immigration law. The writing process involves the usual benchmarks of publishable writing and we will work with you to ensure your piece is well-written, thorough, and accurate.

The first step involves contacting the CD team about a possible topic you have in mind. Once this topic is reviewed and approved, you will then be given time to come up with a rough draft and title. You will also be asked to sign a publication agreement and license.

The Current Developments team will look over your rough draft once submitted and come back to you with suggested changes. The draft will continue to go through a rigorous editing process until it is ready for publication.

We aim to publish as many Current Developments as possible in each issue of our journal. If you have any further questions about this opportunity, contact Hamsa Fayed (Managing Notes/CD Editor). Throughout the year, we will send our calls for submissions!

You can check out past Current Developments on our webpage here.
