Exercise 2: "Describe and Draw"Â
Context: One student describes a simple picture; the other student draws it.
Goal: Practice comprehension checks, clarification requests, and rephrasing.
Setup:
Student A gets a simple picture (e.g., a sun in the top left corner, a tree in the middle, a house on the right, a small dog in front of the house).
Student B has a blank piece of paper and a pen.
Instructions:
Student A describes the picture. Student B listens and draws.
Student B must ask for clarification if they don't understand (e.g., "Where is the sun?" "What does 'in front of' mean?").
Student A must do a comprehension check after explaining one part (e.g., "Is that clear?" "Do you understand?").
If Student B doesn't understand, Student A should try to rephrase (e.g., "The dog is next to the door. In other words, it is very close to the door.").
Variation: After finishing, they compare the original and the drawing. This creates a fun, visual proof of how well they communicated.
