Research Findings

My Hypothesis

I originally thought that human trafficking was something that only affected people who came from poverty or were currently living in poor communities.

My Original Plan of Action and Modifications made

Originally I thought that focusing on human trafficking in the foreign countries would be enough. However, as I did more and more research I realized human trafficking is something that affects everyone around the world, even in the US. In fact, according to US Department of State estimates that 14,500 to 17,500 people are trafficked each year into the United States alone. This also meant that I had to keep in mind the people being trafficked in other countries and compare and contrast why people got trafficked in poor commmunites to why people in higher class communitites got trafficked. Did it have to anything to do with religion, race, income class etc?

My Deliverables

Deliverable 1

During my first deliverable I interviewed Kelsey Antun from the Human Trafficking Council. Interview Q+A linked below.

Capstone Meeting Questions

Deliverable 2

For my second deliverable I made many posters in Spanish and English to help anyone that might come across bus stops or be in the airport and need to contact the Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline. I hung them around bus stops, park benches around the city of Denver.

Overall Findings

In the end, I did learn a lot from this project and I am now going to use the information from the work that I did for this project to keep informing others about the topic outside of this project. I learned that although human trafficking is something that can affect everyone, depending on where you live and your social class you can be more of target. Human trafficking is something that happens daily and it is our job to help prevent it from happening. From donating, advocating, sharing, to even just as much as taking the time to learn the signs, you could help victims who are stuck in these horrible inhumane conditions.
