Pratical information

The workshop will take place from February 8 to 10, 2023, in the panoramic room at the VII floor, in the main building of SISSA (Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati) in via Bonomea n. 265, Trieste, Italy.

How to reach Trieste:

By train:

The main train station is Trieste Centrale. Some long-distance trains coming to Trieste Centrale might involve changing trains in Venezia Mestre. Train tickets should be bought in advance either online, from an automatic vending machine or from a sales assistant.

By plane:

Trieste "Ronchi dei Legionari" airport is about 40 km from downtown. From there you can take a train connecting "Ronchi dei Legionari" airport with Trieste Centrale train station (for available train lines click here, and see above for further information about train services). Otherwise, you can take the APT coach service (Line G51) to Trieste train station, tickets are available from the blue machine just beyond the arrival gates or via the TPL FVG smartphone app (Note that this service runs less frequently at weekends; tickets for the return journey must be purchased in advance, downtown from the bus station (in italian, this station is called "Autostazione di Trieste") next to Trieste Centrale train station). Alternatively, take a taxi (cost is around €45 with a surcharge for luggage).

How to reach SISSA from downtown:

By bus:

The main building of SISSA in via Bonomea n. 265 can be reached by bus line 38. The bus schedule for this line is available here. Tickets have to be bought in advance (you can buy them at most news-stands and tobacconists). Some tickets can be also bought by using myCicero or DropTicket smartphone app.

Some types of ticket are:

  • A single ticket (60 minutes for all bus lines): 1,40

  • A card with ten tickets as above: €12,60

  • A daily ticket: €3,10.
