Giacomo Melli

I am a DPhil Researcher in Sociology at the Department of Sociology of the University of Oxford (UK), where I am affiliated with Trinity College. Before Oxford, I worked and studied at the Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Trento (IT).

My work brings together the study of social stratification and comparative political sociology to understand how inequalities shape political attitudes, engagement, and participation across contemporary democracies. It also investigates how socio-economic inequalities are transmitted across generations and unfold over the life course, reproducing persistent gaps in political participation.

My research has been published in the British Journal of Sociology, Social Science Research, and Research in Social Stratification and Mobility, among others.
