GIAA History

Founded in 1937 as The
Italian Actors Union,
IAU has transitioned as have
other theatrical unions and
continues as a voice for small
ethnic theater groups and
since the1990's has been
recognized as
GIAA: Guild of Italian
American Actors.
In 2014 the Department of
Professional Employment
absorbed the functions of the
4A's Associated Actors and
Artistes of America. GIAA is an affiliate and holds a VP chair on the AFL-CIO DPE board.
Congratulations Michele Garzo whom GIAA awarded the 2024 Scarlatti prize for his performance of this great Italian composer.
GIAA is committed to helping
advance, promote, foster
and protect the welfare
of its members within
its own jurisdiction and
its sister unions.
GIAA serves the purpose of
preserving the history and
awareness of Italian heritage amongst its members.

Nel 2014 il Dipartimento per l'Occupazione Professionale ha

sindacati fratelli SAG-AFTRA, AEA,
AEA e AGMA. GIAA è una
consociata e ha un vice presidente
nel consiglio di amministrazione del
Dipartimento del lavoro professionale AFL-CIO.
GIAA si impegna ad aiutare a
promuovere, promuovere,
