GHS EdTech Badges

Google

Google Forms - Create questions for your students to answer. Forms can teach a lesson, review for a quiz, poll the class, or assess.

Google Classroom - Classroom is a platform that will organize your whole class! Assign activities, collect work, announce due dates, hold discussions, share materials, and track progress!

Google Drive - Drive is cloud-based storage that allows you to store and share, collaborate, edit, and track.

Games and Review

Kahoot! - Ever played trivia at a restaurant? This is that, only you can make your own questions and answers.

IXL - For Math and English (limited), students can practice skills and track their progress using this app/site.

QR Codes - Host a scavenger hunt to teach a skill or set of vocab words; use QR codes to organize portfolios; or just give information in an efficient (and really pretty fun) way.

Quizlet - Online flashcards, vocab lists, review games, and even assessments.

Teaching Tools and Strategies

Nearpod - Give notes, teach concepts, assess students, practice skills, and monitor your class.

iPads -Have iPads in your room this year? You can probably earn this badge TODAY!

Flipped Classroom - If you'd rather spend class time practicing skills than lecturing, then the flipped model may be for you! This model uses videos, recorded explanations, websites, and more to introduce the material to students outside of class. Then class time can be used for practice, correction, and extension.

Class Dojo - Track your students' behaviors, participation, or any other data point. Bonus: cute little monsters!

Websites - We should all have one. Why not get credit for it?

Breakout Edu - If you're familiar with Escape Rooms (or games), then you basically understand Breakout Edu. This PBL-like teaching model allows students to discover the material for themselves in a game atmosphere while "breaking into" a box by solving a series of mysteries. Our school has 4 kits (after January 2017) - enough for a class to learn just about anything!

Gamification - No, this doesn't belong in the category above. When you gamify your class, you don't just play games in class, but make your class into a game. Instead of grades, students level up. Instead of tests, they go on quests (which could take place in PSA/IA). Gamification is a way to engage students in their learning.

Other

PowerAssessment/IA - Do you give standardized tests? You likely use this already!

PLN (Social Media) - Connecting with educators and experts outside of our walls is an important part of professional and personal growth. This badge will teach you a variety of fun ways to connect!

Animoto - Students and teachers can build beautifully-edited and animated videos for pretty much any topic. You can use it as an assessment or learning experience.

Twitter - One of the most popular PLN-building methods in our building. Learn how to use Twitter for yourself or with your students!

Independent Study - Have you done something that's not listed here, and you want some credit for it? Maybe it qualifies for an Independent Study Badge!
