Hello! My name is Guinevere Chambers, and I'm the history nerd behind this whole thing. My background is in sociology, with an emphasis on queer studies, disability, and social epidemiology. You can check out some of my sociological research and work below. I've always had an intense passion for history, however, and I've dedicated my personal time, research, and career to ghost town-related topics over the recent years.
The Victorian Era, the California and Colorado Gold Rushes, and the related queer and disability histories entangled with them fascinate me. Thus, I spend most of my time visiting relevant sites, hiking/camping throughout North America (primarily in and around the Rocky Mountains), and researching these topics. I'm also working towards a PhD in Archaeology (it's a process...).
I'm an adjunct instructor at several unis and colleges, and I'm passionate about mutual aid, community support, advocacy for marginalized people, and making education accessible. This website will, over time, include increasing numbers of resources curated by me in an effort to support these goals and values.
