Introduction

These are the stories of a house that has been haunted for over fifty years. It all began back in 1963 when the neighbors found Mrs. Hudson lying dead in her own home. Some say she committed suicide, and others say she was murdered by her husband, Buck. Did I mention the neighbors who found her were curious teenagers? The Hudsons had always been the quiet type and rarely interacted with anyone. Everyone around had questions about the family, especially the younger crowd. One summer, Charlie Sampson, a teenager who lived close by, gathered up his friends to go spy on the Hudsons. He wondered why they were secluded from the rest of the neighbors, and he knew they were hiding something. Little did he know, he and his friends would be the ones to find Mrs. Hudson's dead body in her own home. Who knows the real truth? Let's find out.

The house was built by Buck Hudson himself. He built it about a mile away from the nearest country neighborhood, which was still around 10 miles away from the nearest town, Anadarko, Oklahoma. The land is so beautiful. There are 160 acres with a lake, lots of trees, cattle, and a vineyard. It's the perfect family home with four bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen, and a basement for safety when it's tornado season. Who wouldn't want to live here? Oh, that's right. Since her death, twelve families have been in and out of the house within the fifty years.

My father bought this home for our family in 2010. We had a family of five including my mom, dad, older sister, an older brother, and me. It was dad's decision to move from Oklahoma City to out in the country because he wanted more land to manage cattle. The house was rather inexpensive for the size and acreage that was included. It seemed perfect. The real estate agent warned us of the rumors of the house being haunted, but we weren't the type to believe in such a thing.

From the beginning, I've always had an eerie feeling about the house. I figured it was simply from the real estate agent's comments of the house being haunted, and I was overreacting. On the first day at my new school, many classmates were surprised, as well as worried for me for living in the house. The first time I heard something, I was in bed and heard footsteps outside my door in the hallway. I asked who was out there, but got no response. Then, I walked to my siblings' rooms and saw that they were all fast asleep. It couldn't have been my parents because they were on the complete other side of the house. I heard the footsteps frequently at night, but learned to ignore it for the most part. Another thing I noticed was my dog, Ollie, always watching something that wasn't there. He would follow it, and move his head as if he were watching someone's every move. Sometimes he would even bark, and I never saw anything for him to bark at. Then came the even more frightening experience. One day while napping, I woke up to the sound of the house phone ringing. I opened my eyes, but I was unable to move from something pressing on my body. I couldn't move, scream, or even breathe. My father yelled for me to answer the phone and entered my room, and finally the force let up. I was terrified at this point, but I knew if I told my parents they wouldn't believe me. The only person I could tell was my sister Abigail, who also had similar experiences. Besides telling her, I didn't know what else to do.

That's when I decided to do some research on the area and house itself. I did some deep digging and found many past stories that had happened exactly where I was living with my family. I got in contact with families who had lived here in the past, read old newspaper articles, and even found a notebook up in the attic with journal entries. No wonder people never stayed here long. But as for my dad? He was completely in love with the house, and I didn't know if anything would ever change his mind.

These are the stories of the old Hudson house.
