My research centers on the understanding of life in mountainous freshwater habitats, how species are adapted to the diverse habitats, and how rapid environmental changes affect entire biocenoses and the integrity of ecosystems.
The main objectives are:
quantifying the dynamics of ecological changes in mountain freshwaters across trophic levels and predicting the consequences of climate change and other anthropogenic pressures.
assessing the potential of river restorations in these regions to adapt mitigation measures for counteracting current declines in freshwater species richness and to enhance the conservation of these freshwater habitats.
