My research connects regional integration, international trade, productive development and infrastructure in Latin America. Over the last decade, I have studied how regional institutions, structural asymmetries, macroeconomic synchronisation, and trade patterns shape the effectiveness and stability of integration processes.
Current Research Agenda 2026–2029
My current research agenda studies whether critical transport infrastructure and regional connectivity can transform South American integration into shared structural capacity. The project moves beyond the analysis of formal agreements or trade flows and asks under which conditions corridors, logistics networks and cross-border infrastructure contribute to effective economic integration, productive complementarities, reduction of asymmetries, and regional resilience.
The research combines conceptual operationalization, georeferenced data, spatial analysis, economic-productivity indicators and comparison of corridors or functional areas. It focuses on the relationship between physical and functional connectivity, intraregional trade, productive capabilities and territorial asymmetries.
