Green Footprint is an NGO engaged in providing sustainable solutions to ensure a cleaner, greener environment through a well-nourished ecosystem.

The journey started in 2010 when the founders, Devishree, a food technologist, and Veena, a lawyer by profession, connected with a common cause – what does it take to manage our waste? It started with a simple question and years later after several implementations and innumerable experiences Green Footprint, a culmination of their passion and dream, was born.

Since its birth in 2016, Green Footprint has created numerous Eco Guardians by implementing waste segregation in a few schools. The first one was at Kodihalli Government School, Bangalore where a composter was installed. During this implementation, we found out that these children are part of midday meal schemes and that there is a lot of food that gets wasted after the meal. This experience of interacting with children, gave us the impetus to expand to areas that are needed most by these children – Value FoodBasic Nutrition, Hygiene, Segregate Waste and Plant trees.

At Green Footprint, we empower people through “Train the Trainer” sessions in schools and ensure ownership by the school on the various modules. We will focus on establishing a well-nourished ecosystem to ensure sustainable living practice in children, which in the long run could impact the six Global Nutrition targets in some way. We realise that the well being (Physical and mental) of people helps them become inclusive and hence naturally adopt sustainable practices and make it a part of their daily lives.
