YouTube Suspensions
As a reminder, YouTube is not a core service for Google for Education so we’re at the will of YouTube. Here’s some information that will clarify the suspension of Brand Accounts and the path to unsuspend them:
On May 9th, it was announced that Brand Accounts would be deleted this past July
After listening to lots of customer feedback the Product Teams decided that we would allow the Admins to verify they were only authorizing users 18+ to be allowed to participate in Brand Accounts as Owners or Managers until July 2020
A second message was sent out on May 22nd stating the last day to fill out the form for this extension was July 2nd. This has now been extended until November 1st to take into account summer recess.
YouTube have currently unsuspended any Brand Accounts belonging to users who properly submitted an extension request between July 3rd and August 11.
If an account was submitted by their G Suite admin after this date, it should be unsuspended with approximately 7-10 days after its submission.
If you have any other questions, please consult your administrator who has received the most recent information on how we’re advising districts to navigate this issue.
Our partners over at Amplified IT have a great write up describing their recommendations on handling the Brand Account suspensions and eventual deletion.

Chromebook Support
Learn about the Auto Update Policy (AUP) and Auto Update Expiration (AUE)
Chrome devices receive automatic updates regularly that enhance both the device itself and the software on the device. However, advances in hardware and technology eventually make devices out-of-date; and as time goes by, we cannot indefinitely ensure that older Chrome devices will receive updates to leverage new OS features.
