- Common Common Fantasy Cadences (Quality insensitive [to Major or Minor])
- I - V (Half Cadence)
- IV - I (Plagal Cadence)
- V - I (Authentic Cadence)
- V - VI (Deceptive Cadence)
- V - ♭VI (Deceptive Cadence)
- ♭VII - I (Strong Imperfect Cadence?)
- ♭VI - ♭VII - I (Epic Cadence Progression?) [ Only ‘I’ chord is quality insensitive]
- IV - V - ♭VI - ♭VII - I (Epic Deceptive Cadence Progression?) [ Only ‘I’ chord is quality insensitive]
- Note: Cadences often have a large effect on progressions as they are endings to phrases that are commonly used. [Stating the obvious, but it is a reminder to strongly consider ending phrases and starting new ones with these cadences in mind. With progressions, the idea of using random chords out of a list of acceptable ones is very appealing and almost caused me to lose sight of some of the strongest ways to end phrases.]
*When I say quality insensitive, that means that it doesn't matter if the chord is major or minor
P.S. - All of these are also cadences in almost everything that's not fantasy as well
