Home is where the heart is.

The author, Janas Lau, uses delicate water-colour paintings and simple text to describe the experiences of an eight-year-old child, Ming, who lives in Hong Kong and is forced to move home again and again.

Eight-year-old Ming lives with his family in a cramped sub-divided flat. 

This small place is the most important part of Ming's "home".

However, a fire destroyed Ming's home.

Unable to afford the high rent in the city, Ming's family had to move to a metal hut in the New Territories.

In the face of adversity, the Ming family not only adapted to rural life, but also integrated into the village community and groups, and fell in love with farming and the wonderful nature.

They thought they had a new home, a new life and a new hope, but.....

Ming's family has been forced to move again!

｛ ABOUT THE AUTHOR}

Janas Lau was born and raised in Hong Kong. After graduating from the University of Hong Kong with a degree in Japanese Studies, she went to Tokyo, Japan to study photography. After living in Japan for two years, she was influenced by the works of Ukiyo-e, and began to paint with a passion for delicate painting. 

After returning to Hong Kong and working in advertising industry for over 10 years, she went to London in 2017 to study for a Master degree in Children Illustrated Books and Comic Novels and became an illustrator.

The English version of the illustrated story - Where Is My Next Home? - has won the following international illustration awards:

・Shortlisted for the Cheltenham Illustration Award 2019

・Clairvoyants International Illustration Competition Merit List 2018/19
