Greetings Fellow Gettysburg College Community Members!
My name is Ryan Simonton, and I am a senior at Gettysburg College. I am very excited to share my needlepoint belt that I designed for the Gettysburg College community. I was inspired by similar belts offered by other colleges, and decided that I wanted to design one for our school. The cost of the belt is $150 and is hand-stitched by Smathers and Branson. This needlepoint belt is a one of a kind memento, will last for years, and is customized for Gettysburg College.
Through the help of the Entrepreneurial Fellowship granted to me by Gettysburg College, I determined the best ways to promote and market the belt. The Entrepreneurial Fellowship is a part of the College's Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Initiative which promotes student entrepreneurship on campus.
The designs on the belt include Glatfelter Hall, Penn Hall, the 2-toned Gettysburg G, and the founding year of the college. This started off as an idea to make the belt for my own use, but after others expressed interest in having one, I decided to sell them. The belt is not only a memento of your Gettysburg experience, but also a wonderful source of school pride.
