Quick Start

After installing AI Eraser, a green "Redact" button will appear in the message bar whenever you visit ChatGPT.com. Click the button to redact and click it again to undo.

Note that AI Eraser is far from perfect. It is up to you to review the redacted prompt and ensure it is properly redacted. You will likely need to manually edit the redacted prompt.

Introduction

AI Eraser is a free Chrome Extension that helps redact personal data (SSN, API keys, email address, etc.) from your ChatGPT prompts.  It runs completely on-device and does not need your data to be sent anywhere. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience using our extension.

Information We Collect

AI Eraser collects no data. It runs entirely on your device with no data being transmitted anywhere.

Permissions We Request

Active Tab:

The activeTab perm is needed to access your current ChatGPT window and edit your prompt for you. Access is temporary and ends when you close the tab. We only activate the extension on the URL chatgpt.com. 

Scripting:

This is necessary so AI Eraser can dynamically read and replace your personal information with redacted text.

How We Use Your Information

We do not collect any information.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to outside parties.

Data Retention

We do not retain any information.

User Rights

As we do not store any personal data, there is no personal information for users to access, modify, or delete. The extension's functionality can be controlled by enabling or disabling it in your Chrome browser. You can delete the extension at any time.
