I encourage you to keep an active ParentSquare account and allow notifications. Not only do teachers use this to communicate with families, but I frequently send messages via ParentSquare. If you have questions regarding the App, please contact your student's teacher or me.
Students are required to have a pass when they visit the health office unless it's an emergency or recess related injury. Students will return to class with their pass and are encouraged to bring it home. I encourage you to check your child's folder/reader bag/backpack every day. Unfortunately, there's not enough time in the day to call home regarding 40+ health office visits. You will receive a ParentSquare message or phone call if it's an emergency, more information is needed, and/or your child needs to be picked up. If you have questions or concerns regarding this system, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
If your child is sick, please contact the office as soon as possible. Ensure your child is free from fever, diarrhea, and/or vomiting for 24 hours without medication before returning. If you have questions regarding signs, symptoms, and/or earliest return to school, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Medications can only be administered after a medication permission form has been filled out. This includes ALL over-the-counter and prescription medications.
Any medications brought in MUST BE IN THE ORIGINAL CONTAINTER, properly labeled with the student's name, prescribing provider, medication name, dosage, and a recent date.
Do not put prescription and/or over-the-counter medications in your child's backpack. Medications should be kept in the health office for everyone's safety.
Douglas County Backpack Buddies Program is a community based charitable organization designed to provide nonperishable weekend food to in-need students (pre-K-12) to help them achieve better academic success, better attendance and improved behavior. Bags with several meals are distributed to participating students at the end of each week so that these students have adequate and nourishing food over the weekend - preparing them to learn on Monday.
If you are interested in having your child participate, all you have to do is complete and sign a permission slip and your child will receive a weekend food bag (12-14 pounds of food) each week. This form can be obtained in the GES Health Office. If you have any questions regarding the Backpack Buddies Program, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
